Tools and Hardware Reviews of Chamberlain RWA-300R Wireless Alert SystemCustomer Review: Installed Summary: 4 Stars
This product is compact, discreetly sized/colored and easy to assemble (once you've read the directions carefully.
It has not given any false alerts and seems to be operating efficiently. Having a long drive and the house located above most of the drive- the most difficult aspect was finding a site from where the signal could be received.
The result is that our warning is shorter than preferred but the signal is received with the base located anywhere inside.
The signal is a short beep which is loud enough to hear but also unobtrusive so may also be missed if there is a lot of noise going on.
At present we are happy with our purchase!
Customer Review: Long Range, Good Battery life. Summary: 5 Stars
I have used this item for two years to alert me to possible intruders at the corners of my property. The range between the sensor and the base station is greater than other remote systems I have tried and the batteries last much longer than the others. Also, the dark green color makes it unnoticeable.
Two words of caution - 1. If you add additional sensors, be sure to get the correct model. For this base you need the PIR2-300 add on sensor. (There is also available a CWPIR add on sensor, and it will NOT work with this system. I made that mistake.)
2. To add an additional sensor to the base station, follow the (brief) instructions carefully.
Customer Review: Tough little unit; works as advertised. Summary: 5 Stars
I've just bought 2 more reporter units because of how impressed I've been with them. We've had our first reporter for over 2 years now. It sees well into the triple digit temperatures in the summer and snow in the winter. Over the last 2 years it's also seen 2 pretty tough icestorms. The unit has not flinched with any of this. We have the sensor ~500 feet from the base, with solid forest between the sensor and the base and have zero reception problems. There aren't many wireless accesories that will operate at this distance with this much obstruction. The sensor also has phenomenal power management as well because we have yet to change the original batteries in it!
Customer Review: Good item, but the instructions could be updated Summary: 4 Stars
We purchased and installed this unit last November. Per the instructions I installed it parallel to the driveway on a pole approximately three feet off of the ground. I would estimate it would work maybe 10% of the time and even occasionally pickup my neighbor driving into his driveway 100 feet away.
I starting playing with the angels the transmitter faced the driveway and found that facing it up the driveway at roughly 30 degrees works the best. Since I have done this it has picked up every vehicle pulling into my driveway. FYI facing the transmitter down the driveway may cause the unit to buzz every time a large vehicle drives down your street.
Customer Review: Security for the Security Summary: 5 Stars
I was deployed to an undisclosed location when I ordered this product. Our senior leadership thought it would be fun to pay "unexpected" visits to perimeter posts, trying to catch people doing things wrong. As if being deployed as security wasn't hard enough, now you had to worry about being attacked administrativly by people that don't carry weapons daily. Myself and another troop ordered these sensor's to give us a heads up when we were about to be "visited" The only issue was the loud beep that could be heard even through armored posts.....nothing a towel couldn't help. To date leadership still can't figure out how we always knew when they were coming.
