Tools and Hardware Reviews of Chamberlain RWA-300R Wireless Alert System

Customer Review: Works Great!
Summary: 5 Stars

Needed a new driveway monitor and chose "The Reporter".
It was very easy to assemble with a screwdriver (only
to put in batteries). Then it was quite easy to attach
the sensor to a post at the driveway gate, in less than
15 minutes. The best part is that it has excellent range,
and works very well. It uses a buzzer, rather than a
doorbell sound, to indicate a visitor, and my Mom prefers
the buzzer. (it's easier for her to hear) The buzzer isn't
obnoxious. And there is a feature to mute the buzzer for
an hour, if you're expecting alot of visitors. False signals
are no trouble, as it is high enough to eliminate cats, most
dogs, muskrats, opposums and the like. Deer will set it off,
but we like deer.
Overall we're very satisfied with "The Reporter", and we already
recommended it to others(who are also happy with it).

Customer Review: This was supposed to be the one....
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought the reporter and an extra transmitter...In hopes to provide detection of any thing coming up my drive at a maximum of 12 feet. The second transmitter would help detect any one coming to the door. I was defective and would couse the receiver to chime every 5 to 8 seconds even if I placeed it into a box. The other transmitter on a good day detect at 5 feet and that was'nt consistant. Went through all the tech support calls and played with the sensitivity settings new batteries...still no luck getting it to work as per the manufactures comments...I even tried the OPtex it was no better and cost twice as much...I finally found a product from Skylink HA-318 which has great range...I can easily detect up to 35 too 40 feet...It is more sensitive to picking up raccoons, cats, foxes and this gray hound dog....So I use it with the motion lights to help determine want cause the trigger...

Customer Review: Reporter helps catch thieves!
Summary: 5 Stars

On our 60 acres, thieves had broken into our new home under construction, stealing $19,000 worth of equipment, tools and supplies. After installing the Reporter, a problem arose, every time deer moved about, the alarm would sound and my husband would have to go check it. After many false alarms much to our surprise, one late night, instead of the 4-legged kind of deer, it turned out to be a couple of 2-legged "dears" back again to steal more. We held them at gunpoint until the police arrived and hauled them off to jail for trespassing, burglary and grand theft. We don't care about the times the deer make the alarm go off because we finally caught the thieves. The Reporter lets us know any movement on the driveway coming and going. We are grateful for this little device which has helped us stop the robberies. We're still checking every time the alarm sounds.

Customer Review: Seems to work good
Summary: 4 Stars

This was purchased for our driveway because we live out a ways and I got tired of being "surprised" by visitors at my door with no warning. So far it works good, except maybe not as well in colder temps. It has failed to go off several times when my husband leaves for work on a cold 30º +- morning in a cold vehicle. This isn't a problem for us since I am mostly concerned with people coming in off the road, just wanted to note it. This could also be due to the distance it is mounted from the driveway (20'+). So far we have had no "false" alarms due to animals or whatever. The little buzzer sound the unit made was faily quiet. Wish it had an adjustment for loudness as well as length of time it buzzes. My husband hooked a doorbell chime to it and it works well for both of us no matter where we are in our multilevel house. Pretty good buy for the money.

Customer Review: New Jersey
Summary: 4 Stars

For the bargain price in July 2008, I gave it a shot, as I wanted an relatively inexpensive but effective warning system at the driveway. Bought Model PIR2300R. After placement adjustments, it proved to be pretty effective. Regrettably, will sometimes catch rabbits and other small passing critters, but accurately detects pedestrians and vehicles. Based on these favorable results, I bought an additional sensor for the front door. Again, after trail & error on sensor placement, it too worked effectively. Placement is critical; follow spec sheet. Some passing birds and insects also trigger the alarm--depending on your placement and range/sensitivity settings, but that's the trade-off for security, eh? I'm writing now, because I'm very pleased with these items, and because I've gotta replace the batteries for the first time since the '08 installation.
