Purchased this item for a warehouse/office space. It arrived today at 1030AM, I had it installed by 1055AM.
It was easy to install, I have basic knowledge of electronics, the instructions were very clear to understand and it was easy for me (a female) to install. Once it was delivered, it took me less than 30 minutes to find the tools (screwdriver), open it, read instructions, get the ladder, open the existing chime and install the extend-a-chime.
Reason for purchase, our office is a warehouse with office space in the back (approximately 100 feet). We were using a wireless doorbell, but after installing warehouse shelving it no longer worked consistently (sometimes not at all). We purchased a long range wireless door bell that was to give us 250 foot range. It still did not work. We get many deliveries a day so this became very frustrating for us.
I then had a wired one installed. I had the bell installed in the warehouse area (just outside the office area) on the office wall. While it is now really loud in the warehouse, you can barely hear it in the (well insulated) office area.
I felt I could either pay to get it rewired, or get the extend-a-chime and try to install it myself. I opted for the extend-a-chime. So far today it is working great, I have the chime (for the extend-a-chime) in our office area plugged into an outlet.
Updated 3/14/11 - still going strong. WOrks great, rings every time.
