Tools and Hardware Reviews of TRENDnet RJ-11/RJ-45 Crimp/Cut/Strip Tool TC-CT68 (Blue)

Customer Review: Good RJ-45 Crimper
Summary: 5 Stars

Excellent build quality, especially for the price. Wire stripper works well and the crimping part, well, crimps, but I can't testify to the cutting portion that another reviewer complained about. I figure if I need to cut a Cat5 cable I'll just use a pair of pliers, so I'm not too concerned. The major thing is that it crimps RJ-45 and RJ-11 connectors to their respective cables, and it does this exceedingly well. Would recommend to anyone who needs one of these.

Customer Review: It's Tool Time
Summary: 5 Stars

Works perfectly every time. Crimper tool was sturdy and well made. This is my first time making my own CAT5 cables. Very easy to use, a no brainer tool. Just Google for instructions on how to make your own CAT5 wires. I bought 200 ft of cable from Amazon for cheap and made enough cables to connect all my internet devices to the high speed router. A wired connection, always on, was faster and more dependable than wireless. Highly recommend this tool.

Customer Review: Can't beat it for the price!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've done a fair amount of wiring in my time, and I've used many different crimpers.

While this is by no means the best I've used, it is certainly better than any other crimper I've seen for less than $40.

You wouldn't want to buy this if you're making cables every day, but for (re)wiring your house and making some patch cables every now and then, this is a great tool and the quality is excellent for the price.

Customer Review: Nice tool to keep handy
Summary: 5 Stars

I have used this for over a year, while its always better to punch cables down and use patch cables, this tool comes in handy from time to time to make a cable quickly to run temporarily. Ratchet action is nice but does not keep tool locked like more expensive crimpers, you have to count the clicks to get it to lock if you go too far it unlocks very easily. I use a seperate cable stripper but the one built in does the job.

Customer Review: Hasn't failed me yet.
Summary: 4 Stars

It works well as a crimper. I've never had a connector fail yet. As a jacket stripper it could work in a pinch, but you have to push the cable into the blade because the groove is too big and it tends to nick the conductors. Not a big deal as I bought a separate stripper. Don't expect to get by without buying a separate stripper yourself unless you only plan on doing a couple connections.
