I ordered this item because I have no room for a bedside table, but still need to keep things handy by the bed. For that purpose, it works perfectly. I've currently got a hardcover book, a paperback, a full-size box of tissues and my glasses in it. I could add another book or a small water bottle and be just fine.
Keep in mind, though, that I have the tongue of this organizer underneath a queen-size mattress. That's a pretty heavy counterweight. If you're going to use it with a twin-size bed or a chair, you won't be able to keep as many items in it. If you're expecting to put a large water bottle, six hardcover books and a couple lead weights in it, you will find it does end up on the floor. This organizer does NOT attach to the frame of your bed. If you are looking to store 25+ pounds of bedside items, you need to find one that does.
