We have owned this scale for over 8 months. During the past couple months, the scale has been resetting itself within a few minutes of a previous weighing. Then it shows a weight different from the one it had just shown before the resetting. The manufacturer's website offers no help. If reliability and accuracy are not particularly important, the solar power feature is very nice.Customer Review: Couldn't be better.

The Tanita is the perfect scale. Its solar power comes on rapidly after I turn on the light in my closet. It is always trued to zero. It weighs rapidly. About 3/4 of the time, it weighs to the same half-pound increment on a second weighing, and the other quarter of time, it is only a half-pound different. It is easy to stand on and balance on. Unlike the (many) scales I have purchased from Target and bad & bath stores over the years, this Tanita scale is extremely accurate and consistent. If I weigh myself, then step on again holding 16 ounces of water, it registers the extra pound. The solar register works fine in our bathroom without direct light. This scale is just what I wanted. I get on, it gives me my current weight, and that is it. No bells or whistles. I like that it is solar powered as I'm saving the environment of batteries and from a dark room to the bathroom light on it charges in less than a minute, maybe 30 seconds. I love this scale! It doesn't do anything but tell me how much I weigh, no fancy extras, but the price is right. It weighs me exactly the same as the professional balance scale at my fitness center. I like that there are no batteries, and it only takes seconds for light to register for an accurate reading. A good buy!
