Customer Review: Not a great buy, but decent.

I picked up one of these after I was given a basic analog thermometer in the toolkit I purchased. I've gotten some decent use out of it, but it should be known that the case is fairly flimsy, the battery sits a little loose and can sometimes go out on you, and that it is easily water damaged. I used this for a good few months, but it finally shorted on me while heating sugar for Italian meringue. The steam that evaporates got into the circuitry and caused it to short somewhere. It no longer works. This may go up to 302 degrees but I would not recommend it for more than a meat tester. To that end it performs fairly well. I have classmates who have dropped these into water and let them sit out and dry for a day and they continue to work. It is in my opinion that unless you *must* pick up one at your local Target that you go for a better brand such as a CDN.
