Customer Review: Bath Caddy w/book prop and pillow

Everything about this Bath Caddy seemed perfect. It was horizontally adjustable and had plastic ends so that the metal would not scratch the sides of the tub. It had a pillow and a book rest and plenty of space for various bath products.
The reality is the following:
The pillow is small but very comfortable and perfectly adequate.
The book rest is adjustable and, though it would have been better if it had been wider, it works very well within the confines of the whole.
The caddy itself is roomy and has more than enough space to hold soap, shampoo, sponges, etc. So far the crome has held up and, yes, the plastic-covered ends make moving the caddy back and forth no problem for scratch worries.
UNFORTUNATELY, the fly in the ointment has been the adjustable arms. Whenever water hits the caddy --- and it always hits the caddy at some point --- a black, oily substance comes out of the body of the caddy from the four points into which the adjustable side-arms fit. I have tried flushing these areas with clean water but to no avail. The black stuff keeps on coming.
Otherwise, this caddy would be the deal of the century---reasonably priced and extreemly useful. The black substance scares me so that I have to adjust my water height if I use it---makes it LESS useful.
