Customer Review: The pick of the pickers

Normally, I don't submit a review when there are so many excellent reviews, but this little gadget is so much better than anything else I have tried that I just had to add my 2Ē. I also have a couple of usage suggestions.
First the kudos. This thing just works. I've used a wire basket picker and a ladder for years. The ladder is a hassle and the wire basket has more problems than benefits. It damages the fruit and the tree. I often end up breaking off a fairly large branch and causing nearby fruit to fall to the ground and get bruised. The TwisterPicker is far superior to the wire basket pickers, much faster than a ladder, and much safer than climbing the tree.
I only have oranges to pick, so small fruit is not a problem. I am able to pick a bag of oranges in about 10 minutes. I have yet to cause nearby oranges to fall and I have not broken a single branch. I have totally happy with this gadget.
In the closed position, it glides easily through the branches reaching the topmost fruit. The only caution is to be careful not to grab a few leaves or branches with the fruit. If you grab only fruit, you will not break any branches. If you grab a few leaves, some branches can get tangled up and may be broken.
The instructions look like they were made by a second grader and then copies 30-40 times on a dirty copier. Please buy a bunch of these so the inventor can afford to make more professional instructions. That said, the instructions are not all that difficult to follow.
I would suggest changing the way he attached the bungee to the hole in the pole. It is not secure and can come off. I untied the knot in the rope at the other end and unthreaded it. I then made a secure knot through the hole by sticking a loop of bungee through the hole and then threading the loose end through the loop. Now it cannot come loose. Then rethread the rope and tie a knot to keep is from unthreading.
You will need a pole. I went to Home Depot and found the Shur-Line Easy Reach for about $[...] . This is the best pole I have ever used. It has a button to release a positive locking mechanism. No friction lock by twisting the poles. This thing locks securely. The vendor can be found here: [...]. Amazon has some by this vendor, but none of them look exactly like the one I bought, which is like the one on the vendor website.
Summary: Easily 5 stars. Junk the wire baskets and get this thing.
