Just received and installed this post kit. The quality is abysmal. The finish on the metal is uneven and rough (literally globbed on). The screw-in portion of the post worked well, although we ended up having to dig a hole because of stones in the ground. When it came to attaching the mailbox to the top, the instructions are incomprehensible. After attaching the bracket halves to the mailbox, you are instructed to "Next mount bracket halves to post with bolts provided (2-1/2") (Note: Bolts pass through brackets and beside post) and tighten securely, do not overtighten!" If the bolts pass by the sides of the post, the mailbox would just lift off the post. If you put the bolts through the top holes on the bracket (a feat insofar as the bolts are barely long enough to use), the holes in the post are so far below the top of the post that the brackets must be bent upward to allow mailbox to attach.

Don't waste your time with this junk. The quality is worse than that of the $8 mailbox I got from Lowes to use temporarily until the arrival of the Special Lite mailbox I ordered. I've just ordered a Special Lite post to go with it.
