When my old trimmer finally wore out after 17 years of perfect service I decided to buy another one just like it rather than repair it. The old brand has changed and this is as close as I could get to my "old friend." I could not be happier! It is very similar to my old one but starts even easier. All of my old attachements fit it and work perfectly. I am very happy with this trimmer and would recommend it to everyone.Customer Review: Not bad for the price

This unit started right up out of the box. It takes a long time to warm up. You have to let it run about five minutes before you can give it full throttle. Overall, the timmer runs pretty well once it's warmed up. Tall grass will easily become entangled around the head of the trimmer. The guard offers no protection so you will be covered with debris after you use this trimmer. Be sure to use good eye protection.Customer Review: hard to start

Add my review (to the many others) stating the hard-to-start characteristic of the Troy Bilt curved shaft weedeater. It has been hard to start (dozens of pulls while fiddling with the choke lever etc according to the manual instructions). Always used "fresh gas". The first time I used it, and every other time I tried to use it, it has been hard to start. Avoid this piece of junk.Customer Review: Unit was delivered open

This unit was delivered with the box open. I could not get the boom to go into the shaft. I have assembled other units with no problem.
Amazon was great in handling the product return. The only problem was that I was not reimbursed for shipping charges. Troybilt is a good named product, but I feel something happened with this order.

I had to reload the string around 10 times before throwing the unit into the ground. And after another 10 times, I threw it even harder.
It still works, so at least its durable...
I guess that's why they ship the fixed string cutting head with the unit; because after using the auto feed head a few times you'd either switch to it or throw this unit away.
