Customer Review: Good humidifier - minor flaws

This is a very good humidifier that produces lots of mist. The water capacity is such that it lasts well through the night (I only run mine at night for sleeping). I have a fairly large bedroom and this unit does a good job of covering the entire room. It has helped me sleep much better and I do not wake up nearly as "bronchy". I am very happy with this aspect of the humidifier.
On the down side, you must turn over the water tank to fill it. The tank does not fit under my bathroom spigot so I have to take it down to the kitchen to fill. It is rather heavy and cumbersome to carry it back upstairs and turn it over on the the base - be careful when doing this. Also, the lowest humidity reading is 30%, so you really do not get an accurate measure of humidity in the room if it is under 30% and the unit will shut off when it reaches the requested humidity setting. However, for me (in arid Denver) all I really care about is that the unit stays on all night. I just set mine for 50% requested humidity and this is not a problem.
Overall for me, a very good purchase.

I just bought this unit last night because of the reviews on this site. I was really hoping that I would be pleased for the price. So far, I really like that it's very quiet. I am returning a off brand unit that I got from Wal-Mart because it was just way too noisy and I don't think that it changed the humidity in our bedroom at all. I was still very stuffy in the morning after using it. The Venta unit was easy to set up and I too experienced the blinking light when setting it up. I turned off the unit and re-adjusted the unit in the base and it started to work. My only complaint at this time is the humidistat. I was really hoping for the price that this worked for me although I read several reviews that complained about it. I am going to give it 24 hours before calling customer support or returning it but the reading has been on 30% for about 12 hours. It has not changed once. This worries me enough to want to return it. Other than the humidistat, I like it but I don't think that I am willing to spend $100 and it doesn't work even a little bit.Customer Review: CAVEAT EMPTOR: AMAZON.COM'S SUPPLIER, TODAY'S CONCEPT, FAILS TO DELIVER !!!!

After reading reviews on Amazon.com, I ordered this product from a company called Today's Concept. Four days later I received an e-mail informing me that Today's Concept had experienced a delay in receiving my order, there was a delay in receiving the product from the manufacturer, and they would inform me when shipment would occur. Alternatively,I could phone their Customer Service dept. for shipment info. I phoned, was placed on hold for over 10 minutes before finally being attended. I provided my order number and was informed that the product had shipped two day's prior and that delivery could be expected on 11/20, within about 10-12 days of ordering (which would have been acceptable). Today I received a mysterious e-mail from Amazon.com that my order had been CANCELLED--no reason provided!?!? I am a loyal Amazon.com customer and assume the re-seller, Today's Concept, is responsible for the miscommunication/misunderstanding. I recommend ordering products ONLY direct from Amazon.com. I also suggest that Amazon.com dump this supplier.Customer Review: Quiet but not for hard water

The Venta Sonic is the best humidifier for the price. Unlike humidifiers that use wicking filters, the Venta Sonic uses ultrasound to create cool vapor. It is nearly silent and yet emits a visible geyser of water vapor that quickly fills a room. The digital humidity control is essential, but I recommend an additional humidistat further away in the room. Maintenance is simple (1) replace the demineralization cartridge every 2-3 months and (2) clean at least every month. Because of the removal of minerals, cleaning is much easier than with units that use wicks.
I would say make your lives moister and easier by buying this unit, but not if you have hard water, i.e. water with lots of minerals. When the tiny water droplets dissolve into the air, they leave behind mineral dust. We had dust cover every surface. The wall behind the unit was streaked with white dust. Our electronics were coated INSIDE and out. The dust was enough of a problem that my family went back to a noisy Holmes with its low tech wicking action.

I bought this one at Bed Bath And beyond today. Before coupon it was $100, so I got it for $80 with a 20% off coupon. This was way more appealing than the Air-O-Swiss's $200 price tag before coupon.
Ease of setup:
Setting up the device couldn't have been more simple. It took less than 5 minutes for be to get it out of the box, fill the tank, and have a therapudic cool vapor running coming out.
Quality of mist:
I couldn't be happier, a steady mico bead mist that doesn't condensate on the area where the mist lands.
Quietness of unit:
It's all but silent. No noticible noise other than an occasional bubble rising to the top. There is no need to talk loud or turn up the TV when this unit is on. I don't see how it's possible for anyone to call this anything other than quiet or silent.
Overall:
Price, ease of setup/use, quiet factor, great mist.....it's the whole package. Don't waste your money on the Air-o-swiss unit.
