I bought 2 of these articles. One at BBB, the other one at Amazon market place.
The plus :
- really silent compared to many devices (but you can still here some vibrations, I put mine below eggs boxes to avoid a soundbox effect with my closet)
- a large tank that lasts more than 12 hours
- it's mandatory when at this season when humidity is most of the time at 20% instead of 40% recommended
The minus :
- One of my 2 has a debit 50% equivalent to the other one
- the humidity indicator provides totally different measures from a device I have
- when the ask humidity level is reached, the motor is still turning even if there is no humidity rejected
- you have to return the tank to refill it, and it's heavy for weak people

Evaluating all the humidifiers of this type and category using the internet and feedback, this is the unit to select. The Venta VS207 isn't perfect but the best for it's application and price. This is the best I have owned to produce an abundance of vapor that relieves the dryness of winter. I have an oversized bedroom measuring 20' x 28' this unit produces a very comfortable humidity. The unit's humidstat is the only problematic reported issue. The accuracy is off but knowing this the user can make compensations to find your desired comfort range. Experiment and you will find that your adjustment to compensate will remain consistent so once you find it, set it and forget it. Hope this helps others selecting this unit and that you will find it to be as equally satisfying!Customer Review: can't they do something about the white dust

Been using it for a month or so now and it does spew a bit of extremely fine white dust.
A lot of people have been complaining about these not working. Turn off your central heat and air then see how it works... If you are using one of these and have central heat and air then your humidifier is trying to humidify your entire house.
The humidistat (humidity detector thingy that displays on the unit) doesn't work right. I too have an Oregon science weather station thing and my Venta is off by at least 10%, which is not a big issue. I just want humidity.
They really need to do something about the white dust though. I think having to purchase and go to the trouble of distilled water is a little much to ask.

It really kicks out the steam and is easy to use, but when I plugged it in I got the flashing and no steam as well. The other reviewers advice helped me to fix it... as he said "it would only blink at me and not start misting. The screw cap for the water tank, onto which one first screws in the demineralization cartridge, has a small rubber gasket. that gasket was too far down against the outer screw cap, which meant the spring loaded button would not work properly to let the water descend into the base tank . The solution: push up on that small rubber gasket so that it is as far up and away from the screw cap as it can be without falling off, and voila!" thanks to this advice it works great!Customer Review: A Perfect Humidifier

I come here actually is to buy another humidifier of this kind but too bad it's unavilable at this moment. I will have to go to the local Bed Bath & Beyond for it.
Our first humidifier has been working perfectly for 4 years (I am in Chicago the winter is quite long). I don't have any of the major problems some people complained here. Regarding the white dust, my other brand named humidifier does exactly the same!
It's difficult for me to udnerstand why others got into so much troubles. Are they really caused the humidifier itself or by those who either improperly used it or improperly expected from it?
In short I would recommend it to any one.
