After my fiance' moved in, we had a drain clog in the tub/shower. We used an electric auger from Rigid to "snake the drain". A plumber charges a $100. The coil at the end of the drain had so much hair that it looked like a dead mouse was stuck in the drain. The water again drained instantly! Once removed, we didn't want to have to do that again, so we researched all hair stopping devises we could find. Stop-a-clog seemed to be a good fit, inexpensive simple, cleanable and seemed most reviewers who were unsatisfied we using the protector on tile and even porous varieties, which we don't have. We have a new cast iron tub with porcelain finish which is a very smooth flat surface. The stop-a-clog sticks and doesn't move, even after stepping on its soft rubber-like dome, until you're ready to remove it. It looks fine too. We have a nice bathroom and we didn't want a cheesy looking product; worth it completely. After we shower, mainly when she showers, her long somewhat fine hair coils around the protector and it allows her to just pick up the fresh deposited hair, while it's clean and easily. Hair doesn't sick to hooks or anything, just lays at it's base. My hair even shows up in the protector and I have pretty short hair. Be careful if your using this on a concaved, porous (like stone) tile or where tile is small and grout lines will interfere with the six suction cups. I don't think this product would work well unless all of its suckers were adhered.Customer Review: Inadequate size and suction

My long hair has caused clogs in the shower on more than one occasion, so we set out to find the perfect drain cover. This item did not succeed for us. As others have mentioned, the diameter was too small for our two standard shower drains (the 5" measurement listed is the outside edges, not the size of drain it covers), so the suction areas overlap the drain edge and won't hold. This leaves the cover to slip around from a nudge of the foot or a direct hit from the shower flow. When it actually stays in place for a few minutes it will catch some hair, but not enough--we still got a clogged drain from the hair that slipped past. The positives I can mention are the fact that you get two covers in the pack and the covers are soft and squishy, so they do not get broken or hurt you foot if you accidently step on them. But we are still on the hunt for a good drain cover.Customer Review: BEST Drain Protector EVER!!!

I lose so much hair in the shower that I should either be bald or my shower drain should be irreparable. Thanks to this little bit of plastic magic (and good genes), neither is true. I have purchased four other drain protectors and none work. Two were metal but the holes were so small that they only worked for a little while and then they started getting clogged. The other two were plastic like this one but never stayed in place. This drain protector has cool little suction cups that hold it in place and large slits that trap hair really well but don't clog at the same time. I have been using this little wonder for well over a month now and my shower drain is still running clear.Customer Review: This does not catch hair

I bought this product for use in my shower and bathroom sink, both of which collect a lot of hair, and I was very disappointed. I have been using it for about a week, and it is catching about a 10% of the hair that other drain protectors I've used in the past have collected. When I first got the product, I suspected that the huge slits that are all over the top of it would be a problem, but interestingly, most of the hair isn't even passing over the top of the product; instead it is simply sliding underneath the product, around the suction cups, and right into the drain. I think this would be better suited for those looking to catch chunks and particles rather than hair.Customer Review: Excellent Product!

I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered these, but I was looking for something to prevent my long hair from clogging up my drain on a daily basis. These little guys are great!! It fits over my standard size tub/shower drain perfectly, secures with several suction cups, and the top is dome-shaped with plenty of drainage (kind of looks like an upside-down colander). Plus its super soft and flexible, so if you step on it, it doesn't hurt. It catches all my hair and still drains effortlessly. No more standing water in the tub! Yay!!! Best of all you get 2 of them. It's amazing how some of the simplest inventions make your life that much easier. Highly recommended!
