Customer Review: Good Product for Routers Listed, Not for Ryobi Plunge Router

This "universal" guide bushing kit is well made, has many parts for assorted bit diameters, and is a great value. The manufacturer has clearly attempted to make the plate adapt to a maximum number of existing routers. However, if you own a Ryobi EVS Plunge Router, you will find no combination of holes (in the guide plate) that will fit your router. This is really important, as the system functionality depends on precise centering of the guide with the axis of the router bit. Only a slight miss-alignment with cause imprecise routing (at best) and interference of the bit with the guide (worst case). I had to file the holes and slots to accommodate my Ryobi EVS Plunge Router, and the result is a guide plate that is very difficult to center properly. Once I got it centered, my project (drip grooves in a serving platter) went smoothly.

Universal base plate easily adapts guide bushings to most routers. Bushings act as guide to keep router bit from engaging template. Most common guide bushing sizes are contained in kit: 5/16", 7/16", 5/8" regular and 7/16" long.
