Tools and Hardware Reviews of Sheet Pan Half Size - 12-7/8'' x 17-3/4'' Heavy Duty, 13 Gauge

Customer Review: So far so good
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this pan based on the Cooks Illustrated recommendation, but I was a little worried about the conflicting reviews. Not sure if problems originate with quality control, or if Next Day Gourmet "substitutes" product sometimes. In any case I received two of the half-sheet 13 gauge pans today. The wording engraved on the back of the pan is "5314; WEAR-EVER MADE IN USA; NSF/National Sanitation Foundation; 2008-3." There's also a sticker reading "LINCOLN FOODSERVICE PRODUCTS" and a bar code. I'm guessing the sticker is to reassure buyers that the maker is Lincoln Foodservice, which must own Wearever (or vice-versa), since my image of Wearever is that they make really cheap cookware, and the Cooks Illustrated review specified Lincoln Foodservice. Anyway, I immediately preheated the oven to 450 and put the pans in for 25 minutes. They didn't warp, which was my big concern. So I'm hoping Cooks Illustrated is right, and "the search is over." /:o]

Customer Review: Great pan... make sure you read before you buy
Summary: 5 Stars

Okay, so I've read that there have been incorrect shipments, or people getting the wrong product. Michael Brown's review in Jan 09 is spot on. You should be getting the Wear-ever half sheet pan #5314. The link to Lincoln's smallwares is "www(dot)lincolnsmallwares.com/Prod_Detail2.cfm?id=74"

As for the review, ATK is once again on the money for me. I have bought the colander, oxo food scale, forschner chef's knife, garlic press and their cooking and grilling methods. This sheet pan is very good.

The wife baked one of my favorite cookies, peanut butter, and they turned out better than they ever have on this pan. Same with homemade biscuits.

I can see where others may have been disappointed from this product... the sheet pan you get in the Amazon search results will vary depending on word choice. Just an FYI. You may get a Lincoln product, but a lower grade gauge.

Happy cooking.

Customer Review: If used carefully, about the best you can find!

I have had the, 13 gauge , Lincoln half sheet wearever 5314 for over a week now. I have used twice. Once for biscuits and once for fries. Last night I was brave and placed steak fries on the pan and put all into the 450 degree preheated oven for 25 minutes. It did not warp!! The pan washed up great both times I used it. After reading all the reviews, some not good, I was a little apprehensive about keeping it until after last nights test. I believe it is the best you can buy for the money. I would advise all to hand wash it so it will retain the glossy finish. I understand dishwasher dulls it. The quality seems to be great otherwise, rolled edge etc. However, using it at 475 or 500 is a gamble. Regardless of where we read it was safe to do so, the article is not as good as reading these reviews. More tests have been used under these reviews it seems. So I would say go by Amazon reviews and enjoy the pan.

Customer Review: I would have rated this pan and Next Day Gourmet lower with no stars if that had been an option

I do not typically write reviews; however, these sheet pans are horrible. After reading the different reviews, I ordered this pan with some hesitation. I ordered two pans because I am in the process of updating my cookware and bakeware. When I received the pans, they were STUCK TOGETHER and could not be seperated. The sheet pans were very cheaply constructed. The etching on the bottom sheet pan indicated that I received the sheet pans that I had ordered. However, I have never seen sheet pans of such poor quality. I am returning the sheet pans without delay. Obviously, here is a real problem with the quality of the products and how the products are distributed from Next Day Gourmet. I do not recommend this product or the distributor. I did call customer support, and was told that if I return the sheet pans, that my money will be refunded. I am returning the sheet pans today. I will update this review.

Customer Review: The best pan at the right price
Summary: 5 Stars

I, too, chose the Lincoln Foodservice 1/2 sheet pan based on Cooks Illustrated's review, and I was not disappointed! I got this pan from mvtradingonline, and have had no problems with it at all. I also bought the 1/2 sheet professional crosswire rack that fits perfectly inside it, from Ram kitchen supply here on Amazon. Very sturdy, no warping, and they've held up to just about everything I've thrown at them! Make sure you've got the right pan when you receive it. It should be stamped in the center on the back: No. 5503 Lincoln Wearever. If it isn't, you've got the wrong pan. I just ordered my second set of pan and crosswire rack.I never put any metal or nonstick bakeware or cookware in my dishwasher, only glass. They usually don't need anything but a quick wash & dry.
