Tools and Hardware Reviews of Grounded Europe Adapter - CE Certified - USA to Europe - Heavy Duty AdapterCustomer Review: Simple plug adapter for US devices rated for dual 110-240V AC while in Europe Summary: 5 Stars
While in Europe (but not in Russia) this is all you need for any one device to the extent that it is rated for universal voltage of 100-240V AC.
WARNING!!!
- It is NOT a voltage converter. If your device is not rated for 240V chances are it WILL be destroyed so be careful.
- It is NOT a surge suppressor.
Most existing laptops and other electronics are this way these days but some older devices may come with a 110/240V switch so make sure that you check before you plug your device into the foreign outlet, especially if you do it into the outlet of 'higher' voltage as it happens to be the case in Europe.
On this adapter's features:
- Works as a plug converter on both sides.
- Supports both 2-prong and 3-prong US plugs.
- Do not expect any frills such as surge protection. After all, it's a cheap, simple adapter that does one thing well and nothing else.
- It's small enough to have a permanent home inside my 'traveling' laptop case.
Customer Review: EU standard only Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased this adapter for a recent business trip to the U.K. Once I arrived at the first hotel in England I realized that the adapter was not going to work. I believe that it is configured to simply adapt the U.S. plug to a European Union standard (which I didn't find in England and may not be everywhere in the rest of Europe.)
Instead of this, I suggest purchasing the Sharper Image Worldwide Adapter with USB Charger. It has plug adapters for many countries including the EU prongs of this product. It is also capable of charging your USB devices such as cell phones.
Customer Review: Should've Have Read the Reviews More Thoroughly Summary: 1 Stars
I'd never traveled abroad until recently, and my trip included several destinations in Scotland and England. Like an idiot I bought several of these plugs thinking they would work. Nope. Scotland and England use a three prong plug with rectangular pins. It would have been nice to have a more descriptive advertisement from the seller, because I feel like I misled by vague information. Thankfully, I was able to buy an adapter at the train station that worked. Next time, I will buy a universal adapter. And it will definitely be from someone else.
Customer Review: product not as pictured, but works well Summary: 4 Stars
The product name is a little off. It should be USA to some parts of Europe. The product description lists the countries in which the adapter works. I've ordered quite a few of these in the past year. They're pretty good in terms of quality. I've used these in Austria, Germany, Hungary, and France. If you plan on traveling to other countries in Europe such as the UK or Italy, you'll need additional different adapters. I've ordered the Grounded Adapter for Italy from this same company. It is equally good in terms of quality.
Customer Review: Already Broken Summary: 1 Stars
Cheap junk. Bought this for a several week business trip to Germany. My phone adapter never fit correctly in it. The laptop plug did, but it would make buzzing, arcing noises from inside this adapter. On the third day, the plastic housing just came apart, exposing the internal contacts. At least there weren't any signs of burning inside. It is in the trash now. Fortunately, I had also bought a different model adapter at the same time, or I would be looking at buying an overpriced adapter here overseas.
