I first discovered Vornado back in 2000 when I lived in a small urban apartment and was suffering horribly from allergies, especially in the winter, when the air circulation was poor. I bought a small Vornado purifier which made an immediate positive impact, and I used it nightly for ten years (it only needed replacing because my son broke the dial off)! We just replaced that initial purifier with the AQS500, which provides the white noise we love, although it can be virtually silent as well. It has made a world of difference in our sleep comfort and our allergy symptoms. I love the Vornado family of products, and I will never buy a cheap air purifier, space heater or fan again.Customer Review: Does a great job

This air purifier is great - I got it because my cat has asthma, and was sneezing quite frequently. Since I've had this vornado, almost 2 year nows, my cat no longer sneezes as much & his wheezing has lessened considerably. And my house seems fresher in the rooms in which I use the air purifier. BUT I have to CLEAN on a frequent basis -- this includes vacuuming and dusting... This purifier also eliminates the cigarette smoke that seeps into my apt from my next-door neighbor. Don't pay attention to the guy who gave this a one star, "Does Not Do What Is Advertised, April 29, 2009 By Math Guru In Training." This guy doesn't realize that one needs to clean one's house also...Customer Review: Worth every penny.

I've had some pretty serious allergy problems since I was little. Up until about month ago they were driving me crazy. I was taking Clariton every morning and still suffering. I was desperate so I picked up the Vornado Air Purifier and the results were instant. When I wake up in the morning I no longer have a stuffy nose and my throat is no longer sore.
I stopped taking Clariton and while I do occasionally have an allergy attack it never happens inside the house.
I would recommend dusting your room first and keeping the windows shut.
This device does what it says for allergy sufferers and keeps a cool breeze throughout a medium sized room. Highly recommended.

I have asthma and cats. I need an excellent air purifier. I found it in the AQS500. It is powerful. It's easy to use, a breeze to set up, reliable and changing the filters is a snap. It also makes a pleasant 'white noise' that drowns out the city sounds at night and is a luxury to sleep with.
It might not be cheap, but it will be worth every penny you spend on it. I bought one years ago when they first came out. It's still going strong. I wanted one for every level of our house so I bought two more. They are all of equally high quality. Add to that good customer service and automatic shipments of replacement filters and this product can't be beat.

I purchased this at a local linen store and thought I would test out. I didn't have high hopes because I live in the dirt, the very fine sandy dirt of NM. It gets in everywhere with the doors & windows close and with black furniture, I could see it and was only imagining what I was breathing in everyday. Plus I have 2 dogs! After 2 days I noticed a significant different to the dirt flying through the air on my furniture. I am not an allergy sufferer but witnessed results far above my expectations with this guy. And on quiet, it is really quiet and I don't notice it is running. I have it in a open dining/living room area and it is does a good job.
