Tools and Hardware Reviews of Vornado EH1-0039-06 225-Watt SoleAire Foot Rest and Personal Space Heater

Customer Review: Not a good buy
Summary: 1 Stars

I have had Vornado heaters before and now that I work in an office where I need to bring my feet up becasue I'm short and need heat, I was dissapointed!

This device does not work on the high heat setting at all! It turns off as soon as I try to put it on the high heat setting. I called the company and they said I should return it for a replacement but I had already thrown away the packaging and needed something so I didn't return it. I originally wanted something to prop my feet up because I"m short and the office chair I sit in doesn't move down far enough/the desk is too high and has no keyboard shelf so I'm sitting high and need a foot rest or my legs will just dangle. I saw this heater and though it would be a great idea for this and to keep me warm in this cold office. The low setting is the only one that works since I plugged it in for the first time. It gets really cold in my office and I am very disappointed that the high setter never worked properly. I would not buy this for fear that it will do the same to you! I will be shopping soon for a new one as soon as I can afford to do this!

Customer Review: It's grown on me
Summary: 4 Stars

If I had rated this when it first arrived, it would have been a three star item. After having warm feet for a while, four stars seems reasonable as there really is only one negative to the Vornado SoleAire. That negative - the fan in the heater is much louder than it needs to be. My computer sits on top of the desk (away from dust bunnies) and is MUCH quieter than the SoleAire sitting under the desk despite the computer having 6 fans and multiple hard drives running all the time. If Vornado had chosen a slightly larger, slower running blower fan, the SoleAire could have been very nearly silent. At least the noise from their smaller, faster fan is white noise instead of mechanical racket.

I've not used the SoleAire on the fan only mode since it's still chilly but if you are not warm enough sitting at your desk, you should give this product a try (especially if you can get it for half price - that's where it really shines).

Customer Review: The simple bliss of warm feet!
Summary: 5 Stars

It's a uniquely pleasant thing when an item does exactly what you want it to do and does it well. Such is the case with this unit. I can either heat the room through and through or wrap up and sufficiently warm most every part of me and in both cases my feet will still end up feeling like icicles during the winter months. No more. Now relief is a toe-tap away and even at the low setting, the heat comes quickly and does the job perfectly. I've wanted a footrest for desk use for some time, and I've needed a cold-feet solution for a few years now. Finally remembering having seen this item before, I tracked it down here and ordered it during a particularly cold spell of weather. At last, the two birds have been felled with the same stone. I highly commend this item to anyone in simular circumstances. I'm also anticipating the use of the unit's fan-only setting for the opposite kind of relief in the summer months!

Customer Review: Excellent, Very Quite Warmth
Summary: 4 Stars

I heated my home office with a ceramic space heater. The space heater usage increased our monthly electric bill from $65 to $100. Decided on this heater, because of the low power consumption, passive massage and cooling fan functions. Very quick delivery, started using it immediately at my computer desk. In a cold room the LOW setting is barely noticeable. However the HIGH setting is wonderful. It takes about five minutes to feel the full impact of the HIGH setting. Rubbing my feet across the massage bumps relieves my foot and leg tension. It does give out an electrical odor when first used but that goes away after one hour. The fan noise is miniumum, and does not disturb phone conversations. Only suggestion is a small temperature increase on the LOW and HIGH settings. I recommend the heater and would purchase it again.

Customer Review: One works, other doesn't
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought two last winter. One for my wife and one for myself. We work for ourselves and at the end of 2008 decided to move our office home from a storefront in town. It was chilly in our walk-out basement so I purchased two. My wife loves hers and it still works. Mine stopped after the first year.
Neither the fan nor the heat work. It might be as simple as a loose wire so I proceeded to unscrew the wires on the underside to take a look. Got all off except for one that requires a special tool.
I still use it as a foot rest and now that winter has begun again, I've draped a little heating pad over it to keep my feet warm. Cheesy but it works.
If you can, purchase it through a major retailer like Sears so you can return it. Sadly, I did not.
