Customer Review: Great Quiet Desk Fan

I've been looking for a *quiet* desk fan for some time, this one is great. The fabric (nylon?) blades are nice and quiet and let the fan have a larger diameter without it being huge on your desk (as there is no need for the normal fan guard).
On the lower speed, it provides a nice quick breeze up to a few feet away. I use this in my (normally) quiet office and the sound it makes is low and pleasant.
Somewhat odd: The fan is sitting on the same surface as my keyboard and the fan caused a very minor (but detectable and somewhat annoying) vibration that I could feel in my fingertips resting on the keys. I stuck a mousepad under the fan, and this eliminated the vibration completely.
I highly recommend this fan as a close quarters, quiet desk fan.

Great little desk fan! Our first Zippi was purchased about 5 years ago for the computer desk at home and still works great. We have since purchased Zippi's for the desks of several employee's (couple of employees are always too cold to want fans). The Zippi swings up and down so it's easy to position so that papers won't fly off desks. They're small, very quiet, yet powerful enough to cool you down. The Zippi has two speeds, but it seems that low is sufficient for desk use here in our neck of the woods. The fabric fan blades are kinda cool, too. Without the usual fan grills, the entire fan is easy to clean also. FYI: It's important to understand that this is NOT a room fan. If a room fan is what you're looking for, look for something else 'cause this fan will fail miserably.Customer Review: Best little desk fan!

I LOVE this fan. I have been using it for months now and it is the best little desk fan. It is extremely quiet, so much that I forget it is on and leave work to come back into my office the next day and it is spinning away. Two settings are perfect. The low setting creates the perfect cool breeze. The higher setting, which I don't use as much, creates a nice quiet wind. It is compact to fit on my desk right between my monitor and telephone. I can reach over it to turn it off without having to worry about the blades since the blades are nothing but pieces of nylon material flapping around. What a neat concept!
If needed, you can hang it from the stand and use it anywhere. I highly recommend this item.

I have purchased about 8 of these fans over the course of the last two years. Big Mistake. They are time bombs that will just stop working and probably within a years time. Very badly made product, and talk about planned obsolescence, this is a great example!
6 of them broke within a year. Just stopped working, no power, no nothing. Vornado replaced them and guess what? Broke again, no power, just died.
Based on my experience with other larger Vornado room fans I have purchased, I had thought this was a reputable company that made quality products. Well, I was wrong, they do large fans very well, and they do small fans very badly!
My advice steer clear, even for 18 bucks!
