Customer Review: Yet More Battery Failures!!

We purchased the Worx GT WG151.5 and an additional battery in May 2010. After only 3 recharges, one battery failed completely, the other will only hold a charge for a minute and then die.
A few minutes ago, (5 Oct/11am) I called customer service and listened to some really annoying advertisements while on hold for about 15 minutes. "Ben" the customer service guy (who was very nice) told me, since I wasn't in the "system" due to the Amazon purchase vs. direct from WORX, to fax a copy of our purchase order along with a letter stating the problems. He said it would take 7-10 days to "process" the order and I could call back and check on the status.
Asked what the procedure would be, he told me they would send me 2 replacement batteries along with a label to mail back the defective batteries.
I asked if I could call him to confirm he received my faxed info, but he said that is another department. When that depart receives the info, they would input the info into the computer, at which time he could call it up to the screen. I told him I'd call back on Friday (Oct 8) to see if I had come up on the "screen"--if not I could do follow-up sooner; he said that would be OK.
If you are planning on purchasing one these items, I'd recommend you hold off. Apparently, there are some battery failure issues and at over $60 a pop, that's a pretty big investment for a paperweight. Also, you might want to see the outcome of the type of "service" one gets from "customer service" as I plan on keeping this updated until I'm satisfied with this purchase.

Faxed info to WORX (cost me $5 at UPS Store); returned home and, for good measure, sent an e-mail to their company through their website "contact" section. Received an automated e-mail back stating
"We are experiencing significantly higher than normal email volume and anticipate a delayed response to all emails received until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience this causes. If you need immediate assistance, please call our customer service line Monday through Friday from 8am to 8pm EST."
****UPDATE 8 OCT 2010 (Friday)***
Packed a lunch and called WORX Customer Service back to confirm receipt of my FAX...listened to 10-15 minutes of annoying commercials. One actually said to go to the website and submit an e-mail to them through their contacts pages (*chuckle...snort*)
Finally got "Ariel" on the line and related info so she could put me into the "computer." Couldn't understand her response when I asked if they received my fax (my bad hearing & her accent didn't mesh) She asked me about the problems and the size of the batteries (18v)...said she'd put me on hold for "less than a minute"...OH NOO!!!...but she was indeed back in less than a minute (*shock & awe*).
She said they would ship out 2 new batteries and I should get them in 5-7 days along with a shipping label to mail my dead batteries back to the "lab"...and, for my inconvenience...they would be sending me some spools of string at no charge.
Even though the customer service situation is a bit better than I'd expected so far, I'm really getting a sinking feeling in my gut about this product after reading more and more of the latest reviews--I'm hoping that in the end mine will be a success story...you all will certainly find out, because I will post it all right here. I don't like (nor can I afford) to toss over $200 into the toilet (and I'm sure that's the same with all you looking for a good yard tool).

Received my 2 batteries and "Were' Sorry Spools of String" on Oct 27th. Just like "FlyOnTheWall's" Oct 29 review stated, our batteries are different from the batteries we originally purchased (different numbers, all black, etc).
We also won't be able to give these batteries a "seasonal run." Problem is, the batteries are warranted from the original purchase date (not the date the "replacement" batteries were sent). I'm kinda hoping for a miracle; maybe some folks who got the "all black" replacement batteries earlier in the season can give some insight as to how well they work out.
All said, I have to say that my experience with WORX customer service was better than expected in the end. I only wished they would get rid of those annoying commercials they play while "holding for an operator" and beefing up their website so one can communicate better with the company.
I still can't recommend this product in good faith to new customers--not until this battery problem is sorted out.
