Customer Review: Easy install, sounds like a biplane, sink drains slowly

Bought the 1/2 HP WasteKing with 3-bolt mounting system to replace an In Sink Erator Badger 5. Was swayed to 3-bolt version of WK based on Amazon feedback, specifically reviews discussing ability to mount to an existing In Sink Erator sink flange. In fact, it's not possible to use the ISE 3-bolt mount system for the WasteKing 3-bolt system. No worries, just needed to go buy some plumber's putty and put in the WasteKing flange. Very easy, even though I had zero plumbing experience before this. For our undersink plumbing, the WK matched the ISE dimensions perfectly--no need to change plumbing at all. I suspect these things are standardized.
The WK so far has functioned fine, but it bogs down significantly when water is running, until the food is ground up and the water drains fully from the sink. OK, so that's not unexpected as it's only 1/2 HP, but the thing sounds like a biplane at takeoff as it's doing this. Probably no louder than a Badger 5, but tone of sound definitely inferior, if you care about these things. My 2-year old daughter thinks the sound is hilarious and constantly wants me to turn the disposal on again.
More substantively, the rubber drain cover drains water very slowly, which means when you have your faucet running, the water pools in the sink rather than running into the drain. Annoying, if you ask me.
