We had to replace our old Badger disposal, but their reviews were just average. I was leery of purchasing something like this online, but with the consistently great reviews for the Waste King, I decided to give it a go. It came very quickly, and was very easy to install with the option to use a plug or direct wiring. The lightweight, yet powerful motor was then put to the test....potato skins, rinds, meat...it was impressive. My mother came into town and accidentally threw a bunch of cherry pits in it and it just devoured them, whereas the Badger would have spun them around in there until I removed them. Once it was running without water getting past the rubber sink barrier (because it is new and a bit stiff).... and it auto shut off. It took us a while to figure out that there is a reset button on the motor body to get it working again....so don't rush to return it if it shuts off. I purchased the Waste King L-2600 to replace a 15-year old GE unit that came with the house. I was skeptical at first when the cost of the unit on Amazon is 30% lower than the compatible ones from other major makers at the local hardware stores, but after reading others' reviews, I decided to give it a try.
It would be more helpful if the installation instruction is just specific for the mounting type of the unit sold, and not a generic one that covers several units and could confuse amateur handymen. Also the picture showing the position of the rubber gasket in relationship with the sink should be clearer with details. Other than those, installation is easy and straight forward. The unit is really quiet that my son thought it is weaker than the old unit. The price from Amazon is 30% lower than compatible units from other brands, no tax and shipping included. You can't beat that and I love it.

I bought this unit from Amazon for $75. It replaced my "insinkerator badger 5" food disposer which began to leak water from the unit's bottom where the outlet cord goes in. It lasted 4 1/2 years.
Installation of the Waste King was simple and straightforward. However, a couple of things to note. This disposer is noisier than the insinkerator that I replaced. Also, the intake diameter of this Waste King model is smaller than the insinkerator model.
And, an important installation tip: Remember to knock out the plug on the disposer for the dishwasher hose!! I didn't read the instructions carefully and after installing this disposer, our dishwasher stopped draining after a wash. Called repairman; after five minutes he pulled out a white plug from the dishwasher intake hole. That cost me $75 for that simple diagnosis and fix... all because I didn't read the instructions carefully!!

I had no problem installing the Waste King Legend 2600. Some reviews I read said that it was loud, but I don't think that is the case. The only difficulty I had was that I had to replace all the metal plumbing underneath because it was old. I just brought the metal pipes with me to the store and matched them up with plastic replacements. (Plastic is the way to go, it is flexible and less costly). The Waste King instructions were thorough and covered every step. The EZ mount is true to it's word. The only thing I noticed that was different from the other disposal is that the diameter of the opening is a little smaller. I use to use a white plastic disc with holes in it for drainage that had a grip in the middle for removal. It was handy to ensure that no silverware would drop down into the disposal. However, it doesn't fit into the Waste King, because of the smaller opening.Customer Review: Great Product

I purchased this product on Monday and Amazon had it delivered at my door on Wednesday - this was their free shipping. I installed it on Friday to replace a 6 yr old builder grade disposer that started to leak from the bottom of the unit. Installation was very easy - had not installed one previously. This unit is very fast/powerful and we could barely hear it running. Other reviewers indicated that this unit was loud, we couldn't disagree more. As others have stated, it took me longer to remove the old unit than to install this one. I had a hardwired unit before, so I put that wire on a grounded outlet under the sink out of the way of any of the water lines the day before. I did a drain test of the old unit versus the new one, and ther water did drain slower, but only because the splash guard has tigher flaps that our previous one. Very pleased with the unit.
