After having suffered many sink clogs, with an Insinkerator Badger + (the only brand sold by the local "big box" hardware stores). I did some online research about alternative brands/models. Waste King came to the top of the heap in customer satisfaction, we bought from Amazon due to the competetive price, free shipping, and past experience.
Got quick delivery, installation was straight forward. I did have to buy a $5.00 straight "tail pipe" to hook the Waste King into our existing plumbing. The tail pipe was a good deal, in that both ends were flanged, and as it turned out, the second end was needed to repair a cracked tail pipe from the second sink. The 90 degree elbow, provided, wasn't used for my aplication.
This unit is quiet, seems to have much more power and higher RPM than the Insinkerator it replaced. Top ratings from other users, life time, in home warranty, what could be better.
I noticed that a few users commented that the splash guard opening was too small, either to push food scraps down, or to reach into to retrieve something. The splash guard is simply pushed into the drain opening, it is very easy to remove by simply grasping it and lifting it out.

When our gabage disposal of seven years died. A quick burial/ removal was not possible as a search for a replacement and installer was needed. "Consumer Report" was our bible to begin with. No one locially in the S Florida area seemed to carried the Waste King, let alone model #L-8000 continuous feed. My husband and I like the warranty and the extra strenght of 1HP. (Our old model was only 3/4HP). We wanted a unit that would hold up to cooking three meal a day, as well as entertaining large groups. The Waste King L-8000 Legend Series has done well for our needs. The instruction booklet was also helpful in so far as what foods our gabage disposal preferred to consume. The only draw back I have found is the food needs to be encouraged(with a little shove-unit turned off of course) to go down the drain. The most interesting, is the handyman/ plumber never installed a waste king before. Which he did, without any problems. Amazon had the best price for this unit even with paying a little extra to receive our unit within four days. That is "4 days" without the use of a kitchen sink, which I hope will become a long distance memory. Because I expect our Waste King to last a very long time.Customer Review: Waste King is ..."King"

Arrived today and before my wife could shut the door I had it out of the box and ran to the garage for a few tools. I was so eager to get rid of my 7 yr old Badger 1/2 HP and replace it with a 1 HP unit. After much research on line and looking for competitive pricing, I found this unit to be the best on paper for the price. I opted for the complete install so I removed the badger three screw collar and used the Waste King assembly that came with. Took less than 30 min to completely install and double check the plumbing for leaks. I ran water and threw in a apple core as the test. My old Badger would have choked on it but the Waste King L - 8000 barely burped. I have some plumbing background so install was very smooth and easy, for those less comfortable with it you may want to purchase the modification collar to fit below your existing three screw collar. One thing to be careful about is it will lower the disposal by about an inch and this unit is already longer than the Badger by several inches so if you store anything underneath it might not fit back. Overall this unit is great for the price I would recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade from a Badger.Customer Review: Great item for an amazing price!

My In Sink Erator that came with the house started leaking. Like most people, I figured I would buy the same one to replace it with. Boy, am I glad I checked amazon as well as some reviews! I found that the ISE's were prone to corrosion and breaking quickly! As well as the noise that they produced could be heard from my entire house. After checking reviews online, I decided to go with the Waste King. Not only does it have a lifetime warranty, but it is powerful and priced lower than the inferior ISE.
A much longer review is on Amazon, and it covers everything you should know. I will say that you should skip the adapter as it took me 40 minutes of frustration and it did not fit. In the end I removed everything and did a fresh install. It took 10 minutes from start to finish! ( I am handy however, so most may take longer )
After a few weeks of using it my wife still thinks it does not turn on. I point out that if it didn't work there would be a large basin of water in the sink. It is so quiet the water is louder than the disposer! Highly recommended, and luckily i wont have to purchase another one as long as I live in my house.

I don't know that much about waste disposers. My Plumber told me to just look for a disposer that was 3/4 horse power or better with stainless inners. My old disposer was a cheap one installed by the builder and the inners were not stainless. It rusted until the blades would not turn. I went to Consumer Reports to determine which disposer to purchase. The Waste King L-8000 Lengend Series 1 HP Continuous Feed Operation Waste Disposer was the one recommened by Consumer Reports. Buying this disposer on Amazon.com, I believe saved me about half (the disposer plus shipping without tax) of what I could do elsewhere. It arrived quickly and in the original sealed box. My plumber just installed the garbage disposer, so I haven't used it. But, I have had it on and it is fairly quite. He indicated he had read the Consumer Reports article and agreed that it was a good disposer. However, he did indicate you could get better commercial grade disposers at places like Lowes. However, he also stated that it would cost at least twice as much. So, all-in-all, I am happy at this point and happy with the purchase on Amazon.com and from this dealer.
