Tools and Hardware Reviews of Waterpik CF-201 Cascadia Dual Mode 8-Inch Showerhead, WhiteCustomer Review: Nice Spray - Pointing At the Floor Summary: 3 Stars
We actually really enjoyed our Cascadia, for the short while that we used it. The misting spray was very relaxing for my boyfriend, who enjoys misty showers. The stronger shower option was OK for me - I tend to like my showers strong.
The problem here wasn't really the spray itself, but the inane, short grey flexible neck they have the massive head mounted on. It wouldn't hold the shower head up! The shower head would flop over and point down. We tried a number of things. You would literally have to bungie-cord the shower head up to some sort of hook on your shower wall or ceiling in order to get it to stay somewhere.
The whole point of having a flexible head (for us) is that we want the shower head to be at a different height when the two of us take a shower, since he is taller and I am shorter. If we have a flexible neck that we have to jury-rig into a fixed position to get it to work - it's just not worth it. We moved on to another unit which had a flexible neck that was both flexible and also able to hold position when you had chosen one.
Nice idea - but poor implementation.
Customer Review: It's a great shower head, but tricky to install! Summary: 4 Stars
I don't know why most of the reviews are so negative. Mine works perfectly, it does not flip-flop, does not drop down and you can remove those thingies inside to make the water pressure higher for a more soothing shower experience.
Reason I gave it 4 stars is because I have what is called a "diverter valve" attached to my shower head. The waterpik is meant to be installed DIRECTLY onto the shower head itself. I could not do that, because I have a portable "wand" that is moveable via hose connected to the valve and noticed that the threading is too short for the waterpik to latch on to.
Went to Home Depot and got an extension and a coupling, kind of ingenious and used lots of pipe tape to "interface" the waterpik via the extension, via the coupling ONTO the diverter valve..... Wow! NO LEAKS! Works PERFECTLY.
For those of you out there that has a diverter valve for more then one showerhead option, go to Home Depot, Lowe's or a hardware store and what I wrote above will work as it did for me.
Enjoy!
Customer Review: Nice Showerhead, but....... Summary: 3 Stars
We didn't want to spend a fortune on a new showerhead and have previously owned a waterpik head that we were very pleased with as it was very easy to bend the neck to clean the shower or adjust the height to the user. The Cascadia, we thought, would do the same. We bought it because the shower head was so much larger and looked like it would give a better spray area. In reality, although the spray area is great and feels wonderful, we had to put an extesion on the shower post that comes out of the wall so that the Cascadia would come out far enough from the wall to have it aim straight down. The head itself is too heavy for the flexible neck. Without an extension, you have to flex the neck up about 6" higher than the shower outlet and then you can't reach the flow adjustment. The flexible neck is also so stiff that it is not worth the effort to move it once you get it in the position you want. So overall, it was a somewhat dissapointing purchase and feel that if waterpik made some improvements, this would be a really great product.
Customer Review: Not what you would expect. Not worth it. Summary: 2 Stars
The TV commercial has someone walking down a hallway of apartment doors where everyone is simultaneously taking a shower with Cascadia. They are all screaming in apparent pleasure and the walker is wondering what is going on. Maybe they were screaming because the water pressure dropped or the hot water ran out, because they are not getting any unusual experience, much less any pleasure, from this shower. No matter what, you are restricted by the law that says your water flow has to be 2.5 gallons (a minute??) and a million holes in a shower head isn't going to make that like standing under a waterfall. In fact, a bigger area from which the same amount of water is to fall means less water from each hole, hence a lighter shower over a wider area. That's okay, but not what you wanted when you bought the concept for this showerhead. My husband thinks the bigger area decreases the temperature of the shower so he uses the straight stream and that's not worth the price of this fixture.
Customer Review: Didn't sag for me. Summary: 4 Stars
I've had this showerhead for over three years. I stumbled across it here on amazon because now I'm looking for a new one with a hand held option so I can wash my dog more easily in the shower. If I hadn't adopted a dog, I probably would continue using the waterpik indefinitely.
After reading some of the reviews, I just wanted to chime in and say that I've never had any issue with sagging. It stays where I put it. The swiveling arm is quite sturdy and stiff, and it has always stayed in place. I only use the rain option, not the other option (where water only comes out the middle gray part at a higher pressure), which I think has rather limited utility. I think it cleans quite thoroughly in rain mode, contrary to what some other people wrote. Perhaps this depends on your water pressure, and on whether you left the flow-limiting piece in (I took it out).
