Customer Review: Seems to leak after short use

I installed a sediment prefilter and then this type to clean up the taste and smell of the water.
I bought two of this carbon filter model in addition to a bunch of the sediment filters.
The first carbon filter I installed did an awesome job. The water came out crystal clear with no odor. I stopped using the Brita for drinking water even.
That lasted about 3 weeks and the smell returned and the water got rusty again over a period of a couple days.
So I replaced the prefilter and the carbon filter with new ones. And the water was again clear and odorless. But this time it only lasted about 3 days until the odor returned.
I checked the filter and it doesn't look dirty. The flow is still strong with no noticeable pressure loss. I keep the pressure at 40 PSI.
If they were to continue working like the first one did, I would be happy to pay for these relatively expensive filters. But I think they must be developing channels in the filter and becoming ineffective. There is no other explanation for how the filter can look clean, have no pressure drop, and lose it's filtration properties so quickly.
I'm going to have to try other brands.
