Tools and Hardware Reviews of Watts 500315 Counter-Top Drinking Water FilterCustomer Review: Filters out chlorine taste, but don't expect store-bought-quality water Summary: 4 Stars
Filter unit is easy to use, overall decently designed with filter-replacement being an exception. The original filter worked well to remove the chlorine taste, but besides that, doesn't change the taste of the water (don't expect it to taste like bottled Arrowhead or anything). I'm a very nifty person, with no problems replacing and repairing any home devices, electronics, etc (aka, a handyman). However, opening this for filter replacement was a pain. Took a LOT of force, and it was hard to grip by two parts. You have to twist counter clockwise. Strap wrenches will definitely help twist apart the filter.
Customer Review: Finally! Summary: 4 Stars
We tried Brita faucet-attach filter. Our apartment's faucet is not special type, but Brita kept falling down. So I was really close to give up to try another attachment type filter. But after reading good reviews of this, I gave it a shot. It worked!
Pros: Easy install. Good water taste. And water pressure is really good!
Cons: It's kinda big on the counter. But it does not really bother me much.
I took one star out, because I haven't changed the filter yet. Overall I highly recommend to those who are tired of Brita or Pur for its bad engineering.
Customer Review: Works very well. Summary: 5 Stars
We are very happy with our filter system.
Pros:
Very simple installation
Comes with good quality adapters to connect to the aerator of you sink
Great if you rent and can't drill any holes for an under sink style system.
Comes with one of the top-level filter cartridge (cleans lead etc etc) So you are all set for 4-6 months
Cons:
Somewhat big (tall) on the counter
The hose is always there near the sink, not quite in the way, but not great to have around
Diverter valve adds about one inch to the length of the fawcet
Customer Review: Awesome filter, surprise inside! Summary: 5 Stars
I just hooked up the filter to my tap using the adapter, and its producing great tasting water! Other people have mentioned it's impossible to open. You need two people, one to hold the base, the other to twist the top off. The first time is tricky, but it should come off with a bit of force. Inside was a 5micron filter already! Unexpected! After getting the right adapters for my faucet (my faucet is a 13/16in male thread, I adapted it to 55/64in male thread to accept the filter/faucet adapter), it was all good. I found the adapter at a locally owned hardware store!
Customer Review: Good quality at a good price Summary: 4 Stars
This unit is just what one would expect. There's nothing fancy here, just a good solid unit. Installation was easy. The unit came with a couple adapters so that it should fit most faucets. No tools were required to hook it up. The diverter valve is a little nicer than I've seen on some units.
The only downside is a trait which is shared with all counter-top filters and that is that it takes countertop space and can be knocked over if one is careless.
For the price and Amazon free shipping, I'd be hard-presed to find a better unit.
