Yikes no way Summary: 1 Starsless than zero star. My floor is all wet I am frustrated, thought my new HE washer was giving me a bad Error code, and that costs $800 so yikes , 2 hrs later and this all after 3 trips to HOmes Depot and Lowes. After all this hassle I finally check online and sure enough WATTS FloodSafe are FOOLSURE. ONe more trip to take back to home depot and suggest they cancel carrying this junk.
Customer Review: Go Back to The Drawing Board Summary: 1 StarsThis is a good idea, but its execution is dreadful. We were awakened by a water leak sensor in the middle of the night-washing machine hose burst with water spurting everywhere. Had our sensor not been working, we would have needed waders the next morning. These hoses were recommended by a plumber and after installation, the water would not come on. It seems that the slightest water pressure (even turning it on to start the water) activates the shut off valve. After spending twenty minutes trying to barely turn on the water at the spigot, it finally worked- and then it took at least twice as long to finish a load of laundry because the pressure regulator reduced the water flow severely. This morning I started a load and the water shut down. Maybe our municipal water supply changed the pressure of the city water. I hate these hoses and they are now gone. New braided hoses from the hardware store allow me to get back to work. I would give this product an "F".
Customer Review: Be careful to select the right hose! Summary: 3 StarsI recently had installed a brand new Whirlpool dishwasher. At first it appeared to have a defective water pump right out of the box. There had been some water let through that drained when the cycle was canceled, but no more water came through after that. On inspection by the repairman, he found that there was absolutely no water coming through the water hose (to the pump) even though the shutoff valve was wide open. At first he was stumped, but then remembered that he had recently seen a notice from Whirlpool saying not to use Floodsafe connection hoses as they shut off from normal water demand from the washer. Sure enough replacing the hose fixed the problem.
I subsequently visited the Watts (Floodsafe) website and found out that they have specific hoses for specific types of hookups. The installer had not been aware of that. I'm not sure if this hose was the one for dishwashers (the installer took it with him when he replaced it)but it is my guess that it was not. So perhaps it would have worked OK if the correct hose had been used.
Customer Review: It does work! Summary: 3 StarsWe bought these hoses for our older washing machine - we thought it'd be a good idea since we live in an apartment and a flood would bring bigger-than-life problems here. At the beginning I thought they didn't work. We put the old hoses back on; but I decided to give it another try later on. We figured out that it works only if you don't turn on the water all the way - about half way, the most; enough that it has a reasonable flow into the washing machine. If you turn on the water all the way, the flood-safe mechanism shuts off the water completely. It works fine now.
I gave it three stars because I was so frustrated in the beginning and I had to figure out myself how to make them work. I wish it would have some instructions as to how much water flow these hoses allow through before it completely shuts off the flow into the washing machine. If I wouldn't have gone through that headache I would have given it 5 stars because IT DOES WORK after all.
Hope this helps someone!
Customer Review: No flow Summary: 1 StarsFlow is 1/3 to 1/4 what my rubber hoses provided. I also had to shut the water off and disconnect 3 times because they kept detecting an overflow when I turned the water on. I'm thinking about taking them off and buying rubber ones instead.
