Tools and Hardware Reviews of Watts WP2BVC Premier Two-Stage Microbiological Purifier Water Filtration System

Customer Review: Excellent home improvement
Summary: 5 Stars

Tap water is not too great where I live, so this little improvement makes a world of a difference. I spent years buying gallon jugs of drinking water, because tap water we got is impossible to use for cooking or tea - too much of sediment. Not only Watts filter saves me a lot of hassle with bottled water, but also it seems to be good financially: it's said to be good for 600 gallons per set of filter cartridges.

One caveat is that you can only hook it up where you can get a compression fitting. If your plumbing is copper, then you're in a world of adventure to make it work. I planned to install the filter in kitchen, but due to incompatibility with plumbing I'm keeping it in bathroom for now :) Yet to wrap my head around what parts I need to buy at Home Depot to make this filter and copper plumbing become friends...

Customer Review: Be mechanically inclined
Summary: 3 Stars

The instructions are nearly worthless unless you know basic plumbing. BEWARE of the line connection into the faucet. Once you push it in it is there to stay. No teflon tape is included. Also, the instructions doesn't mention it but be sure to mount the housing as high under the sink as you can because you will have to remove the filter housing nearly the same length as the filter, mount it twice the hieght of the unit itself. I really expected more water flow. I had serious flow rate problems at first to which I can't figure what was the problem; after undoing and reattaching all the lines and such the flow finally was around 1 +/- GPM. The advertisement did not indicate GPM flow rate so I guess this was to be expected. As for quality of the ouput water? Jury is still out as I just finished the install.

Customer Review: Cannot get filters after 2 years
Summary: 3 Stars

System is easy to install. Only negative is having to turn off water supply in order to replace filters. Also, do not drain the lines prior to filter removal as per the instructions. This led to having to turn water off, removing filters and manually filling them up several times to get decent pressure back. If you just turn the water off, replace the filters and then turn it back on, water pressure and air release happnes almost immediately.

The Big negative is even thought this unit is still advertised for sale, the filter with the nipple is not availble either though amazon or the watts web site, with no replies from Watts as to when or if they will be available again.

Customer Review: Great system!
Summary: 5 Stars

We bought this in December 09, and now almost a month later, we still think this is a great unit. I used to buy gallon jugs at Walmart for $0.90. This filter is even better than what you can buy in the stores that has gone through industrial strength filtration.
There is another unit by watts that has UV irradiation. But unless you are using well water, you won't need it. If you are on city water, you'll be fine with this one. I paid $110, and looking now, it is less than $100 on sale.

In general, I would recommend you buy this unit.
(Oh, and the directions are not much help. But if you are in the least bit handy, you can handle it.)

Customer Review: Poorly Designed
Summary: 1 Stars

The very first thing which is highly annoying is the quality of user guide/instruction manual. It does not match with the web site. Oh - about web site it seems like designed by student. Anyways you will not get any help from manual or web site.

The design is very poor and different parts which connects to one another are made from poor material and thus leak. I bet you that you will need a plumber to install it. There are a number of small poorly made plastic pieces which is very hard to figure out i.e. which one goes where.

In the end - just don't waste your money
