I was installing a mounted keypad opener on the outside of my garage. Unfortunately, the signal for my existing garage door opener wasn't compatible with many of the remote keypads. This did exactly what I needed, which is provide me a frequency in which the remote keypad would function. Installation was very simple, requiring an outlet and one wire to the garage door opener. This essentially acts like the door bell button on the wall, except is controlled via radio frequency. The wire you hook it up to is the same wire used for the door bell button.
This is then programmable to your remote. Keep in mind, it does not transmit a signal, only receives, so if you have a keypad remote that needs to "learn", you'll also need a transmitter than can be used to transmit a signal, such as a Wayne-Dalton 3973CR 3 Button Transmitter.
I paired this item with Wayne-Dalton KEP-IV Wireless Keyless Entry to provide remote keyless operation.
