Tools and Hardware Reviews of Wayne Water Systems VIP50 1/2 HP 2,500 GPH Submersible Utility Water PumpCustomer Review: Wayne Water Systems VIP50 1/2 HP 2,500 GPH Submersible Utility Water Pump Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this pump to remove rain water from the top of an inground plastic pool cover. The leaves and debris caused the pump to clog. It also sucked the plastic pool cover into the intake keeping the pump from working properly. I had to dill holes on the side of the pumps skirt to allow it to pump out the rain water without sucking the plastic pool cover into the intake. Maybe the 1/4 HP submersible pump would have been a better choice. Now the 1/2 HP submersible pump works great.
Customer Review: Underwhelmed with flow Summary: 3 Stars
I'm underwhelmed with the flow from this pump. It took well over an hour to drain my hot tub with only about a 2 foot head. I am using a garden hose which is certainly restricting the flow somewhat. But should still be able to drain a hot tub with about 750 gallons of water in less than an hour since the pump is rated at 2500 gph. I may try it with 1 1/2" drain tubing to see how much better that is... but that hose is awkward/bulky.
Pros: Quiet
Cons: Poor flow
Customer Review: Wayne Sub pump Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased it with a 24' section of 1.25 hose. Pumps a large volume of water. When connected to a 96' section is slowed down as it had a lot of hose to push the water through but still did fine.
I use it to do partial draining of my pool. Works well. Does get a bit warm after running for a couple of hours.
Manf. does not rec. plugging it into an ext cord nor any harsh chemicals to be pumped. I used a 6' HD ext cord and it worked fine.
Customer Review: Using in my basement it pumps a ton of water Summary: 5 Stars
I got this to use as a below the floor sump pump for my basement
after experiencing the effects of a rising water table from
3 straight days of rain in March when the ground was still partially frozen.
Pump is on as I type and this thing moves some serious water.
I've got it connected to a 1.25" hose out to
the street running into the storm drain. Very happy with the
pump and Amazon got it to me fast!
Customer Review: Good pump for moderate amounts of water Summary: 5 Stars
I have two of these pumps now. One helps drain out some low spots on the yard, and the other I keep clean for draining my hot tub. They move quite a bit of water, although using a garden hose cuts down the flow. A sump pump hose works best. The intake does a good job of not clogging. For moderate amounts of water, this pump works well. If you have a serious water problem, then you need to upgrade to a more serious pump.
