Tools and Hardware Reviews of Weed Eater GA2010 Gutter Cleaning Blower Attachment

Customer Review: Dissatisfied
Summary: 1 Stars

I am really unhappy with this product. My goal was to clean the gutters without climbing up high on an extension ladder. This item seemed to fit the bill, but it did not. I read in a couple of reviews that you will get dirty. That was fine with me. But I was not prepared to have huge chunks of muck hit me in the face. Safety goggles were not nearly enough protection for my eyes. I also just expected that the waste from the gutter would be blown out of the gutter to the ground. I didn't expect a significant amount of waste from the gutter to be blown up onto the roof behind the gutter. Seems obvious that would happen in hindsight, but I didn't realize it would happen. And worst of all, I was not able to complete the task. Because of a slight slope in my property, I was not able to reach some of the gutters with this attachment with my 8 foot stepladder. I had pre-measured and, at first, it seemed a feasible reach from the top rung. But I didn't realize that there would be enough torque to make it too unsafe to be standing on the top rung. So, this experiment was a total disaster. For those who might want to benefit from my mistake, I found that the "Gutter Sense" tool was a successful solution. With the "Gutter Sense," I also had to buy a suitably long extension pole and add some rope (so I could reach the second story gutters) - now the gutters get clean and I don't climb on any ladders at all.

Customer Review: Nice accessory but you may need a blower that fits or be handy that way.
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a great product because the sections screw together and will not come apart and fall on your head. This is especially important if you put two sets together for the second floor gutter. The button-held-oval blower fitting works really great for either one of the two Wead Eater-Poulan electric blowers with the button that weighs less than five pounds. Together with the attachment, weighs less than 10 pounds.

The bottom pipe section rotates but snaps together tightly and will not come apart. The same goes for the blower fittings (you get only two) that connect to that same elbow. The Weadeater-Poulan blower connects nice and snug but would be even nicer if they put the rocker switch up on/near your hand on the handle, where it would be easier to hold everything while you put it on/off. If you are handy like me, you can do this yourself some evening with crimper/blade connectors and shrink tubing or vinyl tape, and some precision plastic trimming with a knife and mini-hacksaw.

If gutters haven't been cleaned in a long long time, and the leaves are caked in solid, you may have to go up and scrape the gutters to the bottom, or try to do that with the blower endpiece from the ground, which may be more trouble than it's worth.

Customer Review: Yes - It Can Fit Toro Blowers !
Summary: 4 Stars

This is in response to Mark Horton. Not sure how to get the comments to him. Maybe he will read this. I went to Lowes and they had my Model Toro Blower. They also have the Weedeater Blowers and the Gutter attachment sold separately. They had the gutter attachment pieces laying out on the display shelf and so I experimented in the store with how to hook it up to the Toro. It hooks up fine if you go to the area where they sell PVC pipe and look for a rubber 3" X 3" coupling with the metal screw clamps on each end. I brought it home, hooked it up directly to the straight lengths not using the lower elbow and adapters. I hooked it up directly to the Blower body and positioned the screw clamp on the underside where the Toro plastic safety and electric housing lines up. I connected the housing and then held it tightly in place with cord wrapped around and tied to the handle. But the rubber coupling holds the blower elements very firm and no way it will come loose if screws are tightened. Works great !!

Customer Review: Design is flawed - doesn't fit as described, thus useless
Summary: 2 Stars

The connector piece that fits to the blower doesn't allow the tubes to lock to it. Thus it comes off when the blower is turned on. The elbow takes all the air and pulls the tubing off. The semi-curved gutter extension is also a bad design. It points straight into the gutter and tends to blow leaves all over. The old designed tubing had a gutter extension that rotated and you could move it about to control the direction it blew the leaves. I purchased the WEB150 blower and the ad for the gutter extension tubes clearly stated this accessory would fit it. I jury rigged the tubing to slide down the long portion of the blower tube that came with the blower, but since it's an oval and not a truly round tube like the gutter extension is it works loose after a while and it also loses air because the tubes don't match up in shape.

In the end it was a losy purchase on my part. A wasted $39. I'll be looking for another brand blower and gutter extension in the spring.

Customer Review: Might work if your gutters are 5' off the ground
Summary: 1 Stars

Going in, I knew this wouldn't be a perfect solution. Other reviews pointed out that the job would still be messy and that I would have to purchase a rubber coupling to make it work with my Toro blower. What I wasn't prepared for was how terribly unwieldy the assembled unit would be. The lowest gutters on my two story house are over the garage and 11' off the ground. I'm 6'1" and needed most of the tubes installed to comfortably hold the blower at waist level. While this did the job, the whole contraption wants to sway in all directions and there is no way that I would attempt using it without both feet on terra firma.

Since all my other gutters would require a ladder and all extensions, it's unusable to me. There is a slight chance that the unit might be a bit more stable attached to a Weed Eater brand blower, but I don't see how. I can't recommend this item to anyone.
