Customer Review: Did't work with my GE CFL

I bought this lamp controller for some steel lamps we have, so they would be a bit updated in our new living room set.
I like the fact it makes the bulb sit higher, since that was one of my complaints about our old lamps. We have switched over to CFLs to save energy.
I screwed this device in with the CFL, touched the lamp and I got a flicker on, then off. I thought maybe the lamp was dusty so I cleaned it all over. Still the same thing. The directions say to install the lamp and the fixture, then plug into the wall and wait a minute, then touch it on. I messed with it for about 20 minutes, and could not get consistent success. Finally I put in an old fashioned bulb and it worked like a champ.
I am dissapointed my CFL didn't work, but I have had it for awhile, so it could be made differently than the newer ones. When the bulb burns out, I will probably try LED.
