Tools and Hardware Reviews of Westinghouse 7814465 Turbo Swirl One-Light 30-Inch Six-Blade Ceiling Fan, Brushed Aluminum with Frosted Globe

Customer Review: Small and fairly quiet...
Summary: 4 Stars

We have a 1950's 3Brd 1 Bath house. We use the two smaller rooms as a nursery and a den/office. Both of the smaller rooms would look strange with a standard sized fan, so we decided to get the smallest fan out there. 30 inches seem to be the smallest available. There were 32 inch ones at home depot, but they didn't look as nice as these. So I bought two of the TURBO SWIRL. First, you need to read the directions on how to assemble. If you are too impatient, find another fan. Second, one of the fans seemed to wabble more and make more noise. I returned it and the new one seemed to be fine.
I've had the fans for over a year now and they have been good for us. It's helped alot with the summer heat wave from last year. Just a few days ago, one of the fans started acting up. It was slower than the other and the directional control seemed out of whack. I called westinghouse and they are sending me a replacement capacitor for free. 10-14 business days to arrive. Hopefully, that solves that problem.

Other than that, we've been happy with this compact and fairly quiet fan.

Customer Review: Solid, sturdy fan for the money, easy install!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this fan. We put it up in our 2 year old daughter's very small bedroom and it works great. My husband had it assembled and installed in about an hour. The blades go on after you get the housing up. There is one opening you use to install all the blades. After one is up, then you swing it around for the next one, etc.
There are reviews on this fan in another color that the man took apart the motor from the light fixture. Why, I don't know. If you follow the instructions, it is a very easy fan to install. It does make a little noise but my daughter loves the background hum to fall asleep. It does put out a lot of air for a small fan. Buy it! You won't be disappointed.

Customer Review: Good price, average performance.
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased two of these fans for installation in two rooms of an addition. They went together with no problems but the process is a little awkward. The instructions are not good, but I muddled through. Putting the motor assembly upside down in the foam shipping material held it steady while adding the fan arms and blades.

The single bulb lighting is a little dim for my tastes, it does not light up the 12 by 10 rooms to comfortable levels. If you planned on an expensive dimmer switch for the light, forget it.

The fan is well balanced but noisy at high speeds. Low and medium speeds are OK. I added a variable speed switch and it slowed all speeds down somewhat and, so, quieted the high speed.

Customer Review: horrible installation situation
Summary: 4 Stars

This fan is cute and works fine, pretty quiet, not too wobbly but a real nightmare to instal by yourself. Hanging it and wiring it was no problem, the nightmare began when I put the blades on as it was hanging. You really need a 90 degree angle screwdriver and some needlenosed pliers with a gripping surface or you will suffer horrible frustration and ultimately fail. There are ventilation holes in the housing diabolically positioned so your screws fall into them and cannot be recovered without taking the whole damned thing down and shaking it upside down.
Good luck.

Customer Review: Easy to Install Fan
Summary: 4 Stars

I read the other reviews and was a little concerned about the installation process but I had no problem. You do need patience when installing the fan blades because of the slot you have to put the screwdriver through when attaching them. Also, a round light bulb fits better than the oblong one. Other than that I would have rated this product with 5 stars.
