Customer Review: Great looking - odd light size/motor hum

This unit looks great - my daughter liked the silver blades(other side is blue) and purple/blue lights. I put it up - no harder than any other fan and turned it on. The motor has a loud hum which is worse at low speeds. We do not have any external remote control or anyhting else wgich could cause this. We are calling Westinghouse to ask for a replacement motor.
And now for the lights. It uses an intermediate base light bulb. Not standard, not the small one often found. In the local Home Depot there was a choice of exactly one type of light with this base - a 40w spot. This is a real pain. ALso the lights are fixed - no aiming as far as we can tell.
Having said all this, the unit looks so good in my daughters room we are going to keep it.

I Loved This! First of all where in the world was I going to find a unique PURPLE fan? Were it not for the complaints of the people that bought this I dont think I ever would have found it. I'm very impressed with the quality and the power. This thing is a work horse and very quiet. I keep it on low to keep from freezing lol! I actually wish it would have been more purple. Granted its kind of a purply blue... but it still looks blue to me. Especially the globes. Those are blue...what color blue is up for grabs... AND the blades are reversable. They have a silver side to. I was nervous about weather or not Westinghouse was a quality product but not anymore... I'm now a fan... Pun intended.Customer Review: Very Attractive, but not all it seems.

We bought this fan for our 5 year olds room. He is all boy! Blue room, blue sheets, blue everything. This fan is not blue, it says it is, but it's not. It's more purple then blue. Not only that, but the light that it puts off is like being in a bar. We couldn't find shades that were white or clear to replace the ones that came with it. SO...I had to try and get the paint off the shades. Not an easy task but I got it done.
If you are looking at this fan, it good for a bar like setting. The fan works well, but the light is something that is lacking.

I don't suggest buying this fan if you need light in the room. It has three "mini lights" the truth is they it is very very hard to find the kind of light bulbs you HAVE to have. They are a horribly bad for any room light. I had to special order and pay almost $4. per bulb. I have the fan in my kitchen, over the table, there isn't enough light
to even read the newpaper! IF YOU'RE LOOKING...KEEP LOOKING, this is a bad buy for light.

This is a very nice looking ceiling fan.The price is great.It is awfull that westinghouse does not tell you that you must by an INTERMEDIATE 40 or 60 watt bulb in order for the lights to work.Standard or medium or canderlabbra base bulbs will not work. Home Deport has the right ones.(Remember IMTERMEDIATE base light bulbs) They also can be found at amozon.com.for a cheaper price.
