My husband ordered this thru Amazon as a replacement unit for our icemaker which stopped working a couple of years ago. It was easy to install (took only minutes to remove the old unit and hook up this one). It does, however, take a little time for the unit to begin working as stated by others who have purchased it. He installed it last night and this morning we had ICE! Total for unit and shipping was less than $60. Quote from a repairman was around $250. I am very happy with the refrigerator ice maker I purchased on line from Amazon.com. I found it just by googling the serial number and item on google, it directed me to several sites including Amazon, Amazon had the best price by far including localy, and I had it in my hands within a week with normal postage.
The installation was simple, in 45 minutes the old one was out and the new in and in 24 hours I had ice. I have had ice everyday since. I am very pleased!

I was hesitant on purchasing this replacement kit for my Whirlpool refrigerator, due to the cheaper cost. But upon it's arrival I was pleasantly surprised. Appears to be a quality constructed kit, with a plethora of additional-if needed wiring harnesses (which I didn't need any of). After installation I gave it 2-2.5 hours (time for the thermostat to calibrate I assume) and it powered up the water valve, fill the tray and with in a little bit of time I had ice cubes.Customer Review: Icemaker for Kenmore

Arrived on-time, simple installation. I have a Kenmore Model 106.54592400 and this worked great. Easy installation, it comes with lots of different cable attachments but mine fit perfectly without any of them. Started making ice in about 6 hours (although I have read you need to wait up to 24 hours so your results may vary). It takes a while to fill up the ice bucket but it works and is much cheaper than OEM part plus service call at about $150 or more.Customer Review: cheaper than a new fridge

I was ready to buy a new refrigerator since my old ice maker was leaking water and making icicles instead of cubes. Looked around at different options and found a great deal on this complete unit. Other places wanted $46 just for the control unit and this complete ice maker cost around $50. It was a good thing because the old unit's coating was peeling so it was completely shot. Easy installation, took about 10 minutes and makes lots of ice now.
