We bought these because they are listed as a Whirlpool product, not generic. Based on some research we did, we saw reviews from people that bought the generic water filters had problems with a correct fit or lasting as long. We choose to get these just to be safe, after all, it's water that we drink & cook with. The price on Amazon was better than on other sites and you get two so you always have a backup. When we first got our KitchenAid refrigerator, we bought the new purifiers at applicance parts websites. They cost an arm and a leg. A year or so back we discovered that Amazon offered these purifiers. The prices were much more reasonable. At first we try the Brita purifiers, but they left an unbearable plastic taste in the water. So we switched to these filters. We haven't looked back. They work great and are a great price.Customer Review: Good filters, incorrect instructions to change it.

These filters are good. The water pressure is hardly affected when the filter is installed, until you need to actually change the filter. One minor problem is in the instructions for changing the filter. The instructions state to turn the existing filter counter-clockwise 1/4 turn. However, with my particular refrigerator (Whirlpool ED5RHAXNT00), I had to turn the existing filter clockwise to remove it.Customer Review: Excellent Price and Service

These filters are the same filters you would buy at the big box stores. The difference is that at the big box stores - people open the boxes to look at the filters to see if it resembles the one they left at home. I ordered one of these filters at 8 AM on 12/23/09 and received it at 4:40 PM on 12/23/09. This is the fastest I've ever received an item from anyone. I still can't believe how quickly it arrived. I assume that it is the same filter that I used before. i won't know anything else about the filter until I actually use it in about 9 or 10 months.
