We have a Sears Kenmore refrigerator model number 106.53582300 (made by Whirlpool) that we purchased from Sears. It has the round water filter in the base of the refrigerator that should be replaced every year. Sears sends post cards wanting to sell us a filter for $40 plus shipping. After some research we came across this one for less and it works superbly.
Highly recommended to save money over the Sears option.

We've always been satisfied with the Whirlpool-brand water filters on our 4-year old refrigerator, but until now we always had to pay $10-$15 more for each one at a big home improvement store.
Very pleased with the price and prompt, free shipping, and it fit perfectly. Check the compatibility list on the product description before ordering. Now that we know it works, we'll probably get the 2-pack.

Apparently this is the improved replacement that doesn't require a lot of flushing before use. It is a Whirlpool branded filter and the price at the time of my purchase was better than most places. Other than that all I can say is it was very easy to install and appears to work well. I ran a few cup of water through it to flush out the air pocket from installation and didn't notice any filter particles.Customer Review: its a water filter - is there supposed to be anything to be wowed about?

its the water filter meant for my fridge. so...4 stars right there. water looks and tastes fine. but i dont know if it necessarily does a good job, considering i havent used any other type of water filter before.
pros - it fits and its super easy to install.
cons - this is crazy expensive.
still...its not like there are many alternatives.

i never realized that cysts are not filtered out with some less expensive filters! do some homework and find out what cysts are. believe me you will want a cyst filter. this one was the best price and me, being a female, i was able without assistance from a man to twist the old one out and put a new one in. you don't have to go to sears or best buy and spend fifty dollars. finally!
