It isn't clear on this website or on the Kitchenaid site what the actual difference is, and this is made worse because it appears the description for 4396805 is NOT correct on Amazon. One part of the description says Class II particulates and another part lists Class I. I am not an engineer or chemist, but I have an actual box from Kitchenaid that compares the two side-by-side, and the 4396810 removes smaller particles and more stuff (like asbestos and turbidity). Nowhere do I find a micron size for the two filters, but somewhere I read it only a 1micron filter can remove cysts (bacteria like Giardia?), but that the smaller the filter, the slower the flow of water.Customer Review: Good deal

Price was great, almost two for one with shipping included. The old filter was hard to get off and the new ones did not want to snap in place, filter looks a little different and the instructions tell you they look different, but will not easily install. Found it easer to reinstall old filter, remove paying attention groves on refrigerator side of filter and inserting the new one in at the same position as the old one came out. Push in, turn back to the right at the same time and you will fill the new filter snap in.
Filters works great.

There is not much to say. These are the filters that fit my refrigerator and my options are limited. I feel the price is way too high for filters that last less than 6 months, but the alternatives are either the same price or made by some unknown manufacturer. I rated 5-stars because the filters do work and function as designed. There is a very noticeable improvement in the taste of the water vs. the tap. That is saying something, because my community has one of the best municipal water systems in the USA and is known for producing high quality water.Customer Review: This filter leaves a sweet taste in the water

I have used this filter before, and it was great. So, I have recently reordered the filter, but this time, the filter leaves a sweet taste in the water. I can feel the difference because it I changed it from the exact same filter that I also ordered through Amazon. This filter is slightly different from the one that I ordered before - same part# (the filter came with a piece of paper explaining the packaging difference), but I doubt that it is the one causing the difference....Customer Review: Great filter!

This filter does not flow as well as our last one, but it filters so much better. My wife and I both instantly noticed a difference in the taste of the water from our refrigerator with this filter. I used to only drink bottled water because I did not like the taste of the water from our refrigerator. Since installing this filter, I happily drink the refrigerator water as it tastes great! This filter is worth the extra money! I'll buy it again next time for sure.
