I ordered the filter from amazon because it was so cheap. I installed it and flushed it out by running about 5 gallons of water through it, before tasting it. It still tasted bad, like chemicals. The original filter, that came from the manufacturer tasted great after I flushed it. I tried running more water through and throwing it away, but it still tasted weird for about 3 weeks. Now it tastes fine, but I will spend the extra money and order it from the manufacturer next time.Customer Review: half the price at Sear's

My first time around changing the filter on my new Whirlpool side by side refrigerator. I initially went into Sear's and was told the Kenmore filter would work and picked up a unit for $59.95. Offcourse that was a sticker shock to me. I looked for the 4396841 model on the internet and Amazon's price with free shipping was almost half the price! This was the first time I needed to replace the filter on my refrigerator water supply and I saw how spendy the filters were at the dealer. After shopping around I found this was the most reasonable pricing anywhere. I received the filters, as I ordered 3 each, in reasonable time as well. These are the correct filters, not knock-off (same type) per manufacturer and I am HAPPY with my purchase!!! This item is very easy to install. I just looked for the filter slot which on my fridge was on the bottom, and pushed the release. Out popped the old and with a switch of the filter cap, in went the new. You have to run the filter for a couple of minutes afterwards, waste of water unless you are gonna water plants or something, but after that Pur and clean water. If you have this filter for your fridge, order this, its simple and the water tastes great.Customer Review: Works for me...

So far I have replaced this filter 3 times since owning my Whirlpool refer...due to use, NOT defects. I have no complaints. As far as PRO's. It works like it's suppose to. Easy to install. Just make sure you follow the instructions and watch out when you first use the drinking system after replacing the filter. The lines have to fill up again and it doesn't always shut off when you pull the glass away. After the first time...works perfect!
