Tools and Hardware Reviews of Whirlpool W10135699 Affresh High Efficiency Washer Cleaner, 3-Tablets

Customer Review: Wonderful Product
Summary: 5 Stars

I stumbled across this product at an appliance dealer in February. My 4-year-old front-loading Kenmore washer had developed the mildew "stank" and I was ready to purchase another washer because nothing I tried previously had worked to remove the odor. I followed the instructions on the package of Affresh and placed 3 tablets in the washer for my first use of the product and the smell went away completely. I now use 1 tablet a month (as the directions recommend) and have not had a problem with the midlew smell since. I was surprised to learn that other reviewers thought the product did not work. I have recommended this product to all of my family & friends who have front-loading washers.

Customer Review: thanks to all
Summary: 1 Stars

I am glad I read the reviews on this product... I won;t buy it.

I have a 5 year old front loader. I have always kept the door ajar since I know these machines can have a mildew smell. I have no mildew smell in my clothes and have never used fabric softener in the machine, but it is time to clean the gasket. So I will use borax and hope it will help some. After 5 years that seems pretty normal. I do think people use too much of everything except soap in their machines. No wonder the clothes smell. Fabric softeners have weird chemicals in them... I dont; know why anyone uses them....the sheets in the dryer are good enough.

Customer Review: Worked after 1 use!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am very pleased with this product. I had read a magazine article that suggested SmellyWasher and hopped online right away to find it. I was dissapointed to learn that I could only buy it online and would have to wait for delivery. I was at a local store later that day and saw Affresh instead and decided to give it a try. I was hesitant because I hadn't read any reviews on it but I brought it home and ran it through the washer that same night. I did a load of towels right after it and...no more smell!!! I figured I could always try SmellyWasher if this didn't work but now I don't need to. Highly recommended.

Customer Review: Mystery facts about HE washers
Summary: 3 Stars

It seems ironic that HE clothes washers need to be washed to keep them fresh and ...clean. This fact is not discussed by many selling the product. So many consumers are not aware and so they are like me confounded when discovering a moldy, stale odor after 6 months or more of use. Affresh is the ONLY product on the market specifically made to clense the inside of the HE machines. It does a good enough job but I don't understand why it is suggested for use once a month that costs comes to $2.50/tablet. Somebody tell me why this maintainance makes sense? I should have stuck with my old top loader.

Customer Review: Worthless Junk
Summary: 1 Stars

I had better luck with bleach. I bought two packs of these and followed the instructions. The fist pack was used to run 3 cycles consecutively for a stinky washing machine. I did that and it seemed to work. About 2 days later the smell came back I used another tab the smell went away for about 2 days again. Anyway to make a long, pathetic story a little shorter I ran through all of the tabs and still have a stinky washer. Bleach gives me the same results and is much cheaper. I like the Borax idea I'm going to try that and see if that helps. Don't waste your money on affresh.
