Tools and Hardware Reviews of Whirlpool W10194073 Affresh High Efficiency Washer Cleaner with Grit Grabber Cloth

Customer Review: Product is saving me $300 in repairs
Summary: 5 Stars

My towels started smelling strange a few months ago. I tried using hotter wash water, smaller loads, and longer drying times. Nothing helped. I finally had my trusted appliance repair guy come take a look. My 7 year old Maytag front loader, with its water efficient set up, had soap residue clogging the water disposal area of the washer.

Bacteria in the residue was causing the slight smell on my towels. My repair guy said this problem usually isn't caught until the water pump finallly gives out. We caught my problem early enough, that there has been no damage to the machine, just the smell. Repair Guy told me to get Affresh and use 3 of the tablets in 3 hot water wash cycles in the machine, just as package directions explain.

He also explained getting that soap residue cleaned out of the washer would save me between $150-$300 in repair costs if he had to manually clean out the residue, which hardens like teeth plague. He showed me some of the residue he did scape off. Disgusting stuff.

The smell problem has been resolved, and my towels are back to normal. I will now use one tablet a month to get the he washer in good shape.

Customer Review: Keeps odors at bay in my HE top loader
Summary: 5 Stars

My Whirlpool Cabrio HE top-loading washer came with an Affresh sample. After a month I used it as directed then later spoke with the dealer about Affresh. I know him well enough to know he wouldn't lie to me when he told me he would recommend continued use of the product.

We have some pretty funky water in this area and it is very hard to boot. Even with a water softener system there is a lot of potential for mineral build-up which in turn could cause the odors. My Cabrio has a special washer cleaning cycle and I've used the Affresh in it faithfully every month for almost 2 years. I'm going with the assumption that Affresh works since I have no washer odor of any kind. Hopefully by keeping the insides of my washer clean, preventing lime scale, soap scum, and hard water build-up, it will give me many years of service.

Customer Review: Does a great job
Summary: 4 Stars

Our LG front loader doesn't require a bleach cycle to freshen it so I figured I was safe from the smelly front loader syndrome. I made the mistake of leaving a load in with the door shut for over 24 hours and found out what that bad smell people complain about with front loaders. I washed the clothing again, used a pre-rinse with Shout and the clothing and washer were still very stinky. Someone told me about Affresh - I tried just one tablet and it worked perfectly. The stink was gone and a re-wash of that load yielded clean-smelling clothing. I use the tablets occasionally - if I leave laundry in the washer for more than 24 hours.

Customer Review: It works!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a Frigidaire HE front-loader, that is about three years old. It had some build-up and residue inside, and a stale odor. I used as directed, three tablets consecutively and use the grip cloth to clear the residue left behind. And the results are fantastic, the silver drum inside is sparkling clean, and smells great. It cleaned out the residue in the rubber seal part too. Just one tablet per month = a very efficient, clean washing machine for many years. Great product, works well. Optimized for HE washers, as I noticed a few people indicated they had standard ones.

Customer Review: Cleaner works, grit cloth is a joke
Summary: 4 Stars

The washer cleaner does a good job. We were getting streaks in our clothing and it was starting to smell moldy, but we've used a few of these tabs and it did a nice job eliminating the streaks. We've also started to keep the door to our front loading washer open to help eliminate the mold smell.

As for the grit clothes, save your money and just use a terry cloth rag. The cloth was completely useless and not large enough to clean the flange of our washer. Not worth the hassle.
