I purchased this so I could iron on my kitchen counter. I was using towels. It did come with the corners turned up, and I tried to iron them down, and that worked pretty well, but they were still not flat. So I took some cookbooks, and layed them on each corner, and left them there for a day. The next day, it was flat as could be. It does exactly what I wanted it to do, iron pattern pieces. I needed something that I could use while sewing, so I did not have to have an ironing board out all the time. The added iron rest is very nice, no chance of the iron slipping off from anywhere. Although, you could not lay the iron down, while hot, I think it would probably melt that area. It is a nice size, and I think for anyone not wanting to use the ironing board all the time this is perfect. I am very happy with this item. The price was reasonable, actually pretty cheap if you compare it to an ironing board now days. When I am done, I just roll it up, and tuck it away.
