Tools and Hardware Reviews of Parallel Dryer Steel ArmsCustomer Review: Take your laundry for a SPIN --- on your deck or patio! Summary: 5 Stars
As "back to the landers" in the 70's, I have always believed there is nothing like fresh air and sun to dry your clothes. Even as a child, we only used the dryer during the rainy spells. Unfortunately, about ten years ago the deer ticks somehow consistently landed in our sheets, even when we no longer had the dog we suspected might have transferred them. So, I put my "earth mother" habit aside until I got the bright idea that ticks were in the grass... but not on the deck. I reasoned that a clothes line on the deck, rather than in the yard, was a plausible way to get off the grid. It was clear from googling the options that a steel unit would be the most long lasting. Whitney Design was repeatedly rated as a best bet and sure enough, Amazon had the best price on it. And it came only three days later!
So, today was wash day. What better way to celebrate a "cold" front (in July???) than to hang out. Instead of mounting it in concrete as directed, I instead used a glass patio table and simply "mounted" the pole in the table's center umbrella holes and into a sand (or water) filled base. Not only was that stable enough to hold the dryer system, the table top also provided a great space for the laundry basket, clothespins, and for folding.
No question, this is the best clothes drying systems I have used. I tightened the clothes lines so easily - it made me laugh as I remembered having to get poles to push the lines up way back when. This system spins readily and easily held three loads of laundry, with six lines still waiting for more. Because it calls for rain tonight, we easily folded it back up to store inside. That is, until the next wash day rolls around...
