The dryer vent was good quality, thick plastic and the movable shuttle inside glides easily to lift when the dryer is on and close when it is off. I've had it installed for a couple of weeks and it has been working fine. Luckily we haven't had much cold weather yet, so I can not say how effective it is at blocking the cold air. The only complaint I had was that the portion of the unit that mounts to the house was significantly larger than the older vent I was replacing. I had to trim all four edges with a dremel and re-drill the mounting holes. Not a big deal, just an added step that made the difference between 5 stars and 4.Customer Review: Poor quality and poor customer service

Purchased this and it was delivered quickly. However, the product had a yellowed top cap with stress cracks. It had flashing that was not removed after manufacturing it which was all over it. Obviously no quality checking and the tooling is old. The company refused to replace just the top cap and wanted me to return the whole item for a replacement. That would waste my time and money, when all they had to do to make me happy was to ship a new top cap. But they didn't. The product does work well however, but we'll see how it holds up in the winter. Plastic could be brittle.Customer Review: Best dryer vent closure

This is the second time I have had to install this type of dryer vent. I bought one like this in the early 90's from another company. It lasted longer than any other type I have ever had before. It probably would still be attached to the house, but my brother leaned something against the house, which turned over and broke the old one. Also, they recommend painting it to protect from UV rays from the sun, however if your vent is in the shade, than I don't see how that would help. I did get this product faster and cheaper through Amazon.Customer Review: Good design, but question it's longevity

This product has a great design in that it is easy to clean by removing the lid from the top if needed. If it was constructed of a little thicker, stronger material I would give it a four star rating. If it also included a through-the-wall length of pipe, I would give it a five star rating. I installed it a month ago. When the weather gets cold will it keep the heat in the house??? I will let you know. Most other dryer vent hoods do not give you a positive seal or the ease of cleaning builtup lint that the Heartland 21000 does.Customer Review: Heating bill going down!

HEARTLAND 21000 Dryer Vent Closure
My laundry room has always been cold in winter months. The dryer is vented to exterior of our home and the cold air traveled right through the vent. Inside the dryer was even colder! We installed the Heartland 21000 Vent and it works great! As I write,we are in a snow storm and my laundry room temp is consistent with the rest of the house. Finally, a product that delivers what it says!
