Tools and Hardware Reviews of Work Sharp WS2000 Tool Sharpener

Customer Review: Makes dull tools sharp
Summary: 5 Stars

I've sharpened a variety of chisels on the worksharp with no hassles and good results. Flat blades go in the guide with a solid abrasive disk, while curved blades are done using the "see-through" slotted disk. Either way is straight forward and surprisingly quick. Compared to the old bench grinder or flat stone techniques this is a walk in the park. Unless you work directly under strong overhead light, I found that a bright head-lamp makes it easier to see when using the slotted disk to sharpen curved chisels. The initial sharpness is good enough for most wood turning projects, but to get a hair-shaving edge you have to follow up with regular honing methods.

Customer Review: It's nice to have sharp lathe tools
Summary: 5 Stars

I was debating on getting this or the WS3000. I decided(or rather, my budget decided) to try the smaller model. I was not disappointed. I'm sure the WS3000 has some more advanced features I could use, but the WS2000 works just fine for my small shop. The edge vision wheel makes it easy to put a sharp edge on my lathe turning chisels. The chisel port works great, also. The first thing I sharpened was a cheap old chisel I use to scrape glue. After a few minutes it was razor sharp.
If you have the extra money, go ahead and get the WS3000, but if you're on a budget, the WS2000 won't let you down.

Customer Review: You gotta have it
Summary: 4 Stars

If you have chisels (or any other cutting tools), you have to have this.

My days of ruining edges on a grinding stone are over. This tool does a good job of dissipating heat and preventing overheating the blade. My chisels are sharper than ever and since I didn't overheat, the temper is as good as when they were new.

Mine came with a mail in voucher for a knife sharpening attachment. I'm glad it was free because it would have been overpriced at any cost. That is the only reason I gave this tool a 4 instead of a 5. In all honesty, it probably deserves more like a 4.8.

Customer Review: best investment I have ever made in sharpening equipment
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a woodworker and use a lot of hand tools... I would love to have the time to hand hone my irons and chisels to that impossible to achieve razor sharpness that would require hollow grinding and slew of special setups and equipment. A few seconds on the worksharp dresses up the edge, and if you really want to, you can hone for a few minutes and achieve razor sharpness. Using a conventional grinder and honing techniques would require hours of time I dont have. I really like this thing! I can get practically all my tools razor sharp in minutes rather than hours.

Customer Review: Work Sharp 2000
Summary: 5 Stars

I struggled hand sharping my chisels and plane irons. No more! I took a 40 year+ Stanley chisel from a dull and chipped piece of junk to a chisel the will shave the hair on my arm in less than three minutes. I was about to buy a good set of chisels, but choose the buy the Work Sharp. I figure it cost about $40.00 more. I gained a tool that will keep all my cheap chisels and plane irons razor sharp. I did buy an extra disc and put 400 and 800 wet/dry sand paper on it to hone the final edge and keep my tools razor sharp after each use. It works great.
