I bought this battery tester based on its Amazon reviews and I have not been disappointed. The tester is very quick and easy to use out of the box (as long as you have 4 AAAs for it). I do have to check each battery twice and have only used it for alkaline and NiMH testing. But I'm confident that I'm not throwing away perfectly good batteries anymore. Initially, I balked at the price, but I'm so glad I went ahead and bought it anyway.Customer Review: Awesome!!

I work in a theatre where we go through a ton of AA and 9V batteries in our wireless microphones and wireless clearcom beltpacks. At the start of each show, all of them have to have fresh batteries even though the old ones might not be completely dead. It's nice to be able to check the life of the used ones so that they can be used for rehearsals or in other devices. It's a great way to save money and prevent waste! I'm constantly amazed at the frailness of rechargeable batteries. The manufacturers claim an almost infinite life for these expensive little pieces of "green" technology but as a newspaper photographer, I keep finding them failing at the most awkward moments. The Mini Multi-Battery Tester finds those batteries that just aren't up to the task before failing at some critical time. Holding a battery on the tester and the negative probe on the end and pushing a test button takes a little to get it right.
Anyway it gives me a way to compare batteries and sort of match levels to each other. It definately lets me know if it is dead and will probably save me from throwing away batteries because one has gone dead.
I would prefer an analog device but his will do.

This battery tester is awesome. It's the perfect blend of sophistication yet easy enough for a non-tech person to use. The tester has definitely saved me time wondering whether which battery is working or not. Don't waste your time with analog readers or testers designed for engineer types. One of my best tech buys! I originally bought mine more than double the price, so I'm happy to buy a 2nd for my family.
