Soon after receiving this, I had to open a hard plastic casing for something else I bought. Normally, this would take me quite a while and probably an injury or two as the plastic would cut my skin.
With this little device, I had the thing opened and being used within 30 seconds with no injury. At Christmas, considering I'll be visiting three kids, this will come in EXTREMELY handy since all kids' toys now seem to have hard plastic or insane packaging that would be easily removed with this.
I'd recommend this to anyone who has ever fought with any packaging for more than a minute.

The Zibra is a pretty awesome lil' tool! I use one at home and work to open difficult items. It is the bomb for that difficult packaging that all toys seem to be imprisioned with! It will cut open the exterior packaging and the wire ties with ease. The screwdriver tip works great if you can keep up with it!(That's why I only gave 4 stars.. tip is too easy to lose...) I am the envy of the family at Christmas as I whip out the Zibra and blast thru those devilishly designed packages! The off-set clippers are the secret to cutting the sealed, hard plastic shells... Ordering more as Christmas/Birthday gifts..Customer Review: Worthy of design awards? Hardly.

I purchased several of these for my husband, dad, brother and brothers-in-law who all love the latest gadgets. While it serves a purpose, it is not the wonder tool I expected. A good pair of utility scissors can cut through packaging better. You can pinch your hand between the handles while cutting. The release of the utility knife is too similar to the lever used to open the cutting blades, so you can cut yourself if you are not careful. The screwdriver in the handle is a handy addition. Since this tool won design and product innovation awards, I had high hopes, but it just doesn't live up to the hype.Customer Review: Expect it to break and stop working quickly

The Zibra worked fine to start with -- not the easiest tool to use, since it's akin to using garden shears to open a box, but adequate. Then the flimsy plastic piece that allowed you to keep it closed broke. That made it difficult to impossible to use the razor or screwdriver because they're awkward to use when it's scissored open. Now the blades have gotten too much play in them and it doesn't even cut packages well -- I think the plastic casing is just too flimsy. It's an ordeal trying to saw it through each package. I just ordered a new cutter from a different brand -- I'll see if that works better.Customer Review: Just Flat Works

This methodically nibbles through the ultrasonically welded heavy plastic packaging that the vendors have inflicted on us. There are better solutions for opening bottles, cutting that requires a blade, and screw-sealed battery compartments, even though its tools can handle those chores, but those aren't real problems. Getting heavy plastic open without destroying the contents *is* a problem if you do not have a specialized tool. This is a good one. I've used aviation tin snips for this job in the past, and they are not as well suited to this purpose as this gizmo costing a fourth as much.
