This is one of the best products I have ever received... Makes those hard to open plastic packaged items a breeze. It includes the battery compartment screwdriver and a utility knive in the handles. I did have a problem with the connection that holds it together breaking and now a girls pony tail holder has replaced it. I bought numerous for Christmas gifts and will make sure they open it first so they CAN open their other gifts. I've used other package opening devices, but this is the best. It is very sturdy. In the autumn and winter, I've used it to open plastic packaging material, cardboard boxes, and the foil at the top of a wine bottle. It easily cuts through wire, plastic wire ties, metal, fabric, and plastic. During the spring, I use it to prune plants in my garden. In the summer, it easily cuts through thick flower stems and vines.
Well worth every penny! I got it as a Christmas present and it is one of the best I've ever gotten!

I used to dread opening up those plastic heat sealed packages. I was always fumbling around trying to cut them with scissors which required too much pressure. This handy device lets me cut through them with ease as well as clip wires, plastic ties, and has a slide out blade to open up those Cd/DVD packages. I like the fact that the slide out blade does not stay locked in the out position, because I would probably accidentally stab myself with it. Do I hate plastic wrap? You betcha. What a horrible thing we are leaving for the next generation.
Anyway, bought a LaCrosse Weather Station that was so encased in plastic, that it took an hour to unwrap, and the paddles for the wind indicator were broken.
Bought this tool, was able to open the replacement package in about 10 minutes, with nothing broken this time.
If we have to continue to deal with this type of packaging, this is the tool to attack "plastic rage."

This was a great purchase. It is better than scissors because it is sharper and shaped so that it conforms to packages, unlike normal scissors. My hands do not get cut from the packages anymore, but like anything else, you still need to be careful. As any cutter opens packages, you must be careful that the opened plastic doesn't pop up and scrape you. I found that the shape of the cutter here makes the package more controlled as it opens, making it safer just as much as it is easier. Highly recommended.
