Customer Review: Too short for its intended purpose
Summary: 3 Stars
This lighter is a high quality dual-flame butane lighter. It's refillable. It's solid and has a good weighty feel to it. The appearance of the lighter is great which is why I ended up purchasing the lighter.
Pros:
1. Solid construction and good styling (this is personal opinion, of course)
2. Dual flame
3. Wind-proof technology (there's an element that heats up in the flame so you can wave it about while lit and it won't go out).
4. It's refillable and has a pretty good size fuel cell.
However, there are some major negatives to it:
1. It is way too short to light anything you're going to be using outdoors (grill, fireplace, etc.) especially if you are using an accelerant (lighter fuel). While the overall length of the lighter is 8 inches, the length from your fingers to the tip of the lighter is only 4 inches, which is much shorter than your typical outdoor utility lighter. 4" is just not enough to keep your fingers out of harm's way when it comes to lighting such a fire.
2. The safety mechanism is pretty kludgy. You have to depress two separate buttons, making sure the safety side is depressed first. It can be tricky. Using two hands it's pretty easy, but who wants to even think of using two hands for something like this?
Overall, it's a fun item, but I really wouldn't recommend it unless you strongly consider the pros and cons personally and decide it's worth it. If they revise it and add another 3-4" or more to the business end, it would increase the usefulness by 100%
